I guess imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Have to admit I like it though.

Mazda hints at return of the rotary with RX-Vision concept

I still think the RX-7 is a great looking design after all these years. Surprised they are still doing the rotary thing...just not enough adoption. Not sure what their strategy is.

+1. The RX-7 design holds up as modern better than most new cars. The RX concept looks most like the Mercedes AMG GT and doesn't fare well against the appearance of our cars.

To me it looks much more like a Maserati Granturismo in the nose while trying to do the Ferrari 599/612 or AMG GT look down the sides and back. I kind of like it but have no idea how this fits in with the rotary engine theme of compact packaging and high rpm.

I like it. If it ever makes it into production, depending upon pricing, it might make an excellent autocross / track car.

For me, it hearkens back to the Ferrari Daytona, but the sexiest part of this concept is the interior--devoid of gadgetry and tron-like lights. As design concepts go, I really appreciate its clean and elegant lines.

I think it looks great, but yes definitely very derivative from a number of sources.

Nice front end and roof line, until it gets to the back end, then for me it falls apart.

Great looking concept (very Daytona like, I agree) car! Certainly much more attractive imho than the NSX from Acura or the Toyota Supra concepts. Sensual rather than radical design does it for me everytime!

I used to have an RX-8 and still think it was an amazingly designed and engineered car for that price point and I had a lot of fun in it.

I have a lot of affection for that platform and did see a lot of resemblance in their current concept and an F-Type. I do however think this is just a concept and think it'll be years before anything shows up in showrooms and it wont look nearly as cool as the concept.

Also I'm not really sure what they're doing with their rotary engines. While it was fun it wasn't particularly good at getting better mileage and I had to regularly top that thing with oil almost every month. I guess we'll see, but I'm guessing it'll be some sort of rotary-electric hybrid. I really hope they solved the oil burning issue though.

This. I am not hot on the foreverhood, but yeah... they never look like that.

Tell an artist to make the most beautiful vision in their mind, work and toil... then value engineer and focus group it into boredom.
