Default Rotary Shifter Update

Check out this rotary shifter upgrade top on the XF forum:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...upgrade-92089/

I'm going to order one to match the Growler on my steering wheel in piano black. Someone also suggested a red "EJECT" which would be pretty cool, but a bit on the tacky side (I'm thinking about it).

What do all the XK/XKR members think?

Nope, don't like it... Just a tad too garish for my taste.
Just an opinion of course, but that's what ya asked for!

If it's reversible later back to stock I think the EJECT would be good for some harmless fun just to see passenger's reactions. I also like the R...but pick the one you like most. Actually, I can think of all kinds of cool or entertaining things to put on there!

Question:

Is the one on the right Aftermarket or OEM? That one looks sharp!

The one on the right is listed in the Jaguar Accessory Guide but you need two parts:

The leather top=C2D21919PVJ=£28
The rotary gear selector with rubber grip =C2D21956=£54

Any idea what the upgrade price is? I like!

Just noticed the European price after the part number.

According to Google (and the XF forum):

C2D21919PVJ Topper $29.60
C2D21956 Switch Rotary $60.00

Default 2007 xkr shifter upgrade

Anyone know if the old shifter in the 2007 XKR can be upgraded to the rotary type ?

Any instructions would also be appreciated.

Thanks !

I harbor similar questions... Wondering if I could put an 07-09 shifter into an 2010 and above... My next move would be most likely be a 2010, but prefer the lever over the knob... Its just a personal thing...

Common sense tells me it should be do-able, but then, Jag can sometimes side step common sense....

It's funny this thread should come up today as I posted on the F-type forum yesterday what I had done to my rotary shifter as one new F-type owner was unhappy with his start button, so I suggested he glue a small Growler emblem to it (he got the dealer to replace under warranty).

As I reported previously in other threads, microthin metal Jaguar Leaper logo stickers are available in 2 sizes from modSticker. https://www.modsticker.com/products/...o-Sticker.html Small is $1.99 and medium is $2.99 plus S&H.

Small microthin Leaper as installed on the rotary shift knob of my 2013 XJ, which is the same shifter as used on the 2010-up XK (X150) models. Picture is in Park, but when in Drive, the Leaper is facing forward.

Small microthin Leaper as installed on the shift knob of my 2009 XKR:

The microthin sticker is self-adhesive, and is easily removed without leaving a trace. I cut the "Jaguar" lettering off and just used the Leaper.

Best bang for the buck, and super easy installation.

Stuart

I would otherwise love to do this mod, but when the shifter is rotated (thence the logo) it would drive me nuts. Gotta find a way to keep it straight while the knob is rotated!

Cee Jay ... you and I have 'that' in common. It's OCD - but I prefer to call it CDO. That way the letters are in alphabetical order - as they should be!

Mystery!! I know of a 2010 510hp 5L Jag with Shift Lever. Did "conversion" to rotary shift occur in 2010 and "some" Jags came in with 2010 engine, but J-gate shift lever??? Personally, don't like the rotary and paddle gadgets. Just give me the Old Fashioned "stick." Thanks!

The rotary shifter and its associated 6HP28 gearbox came in with the 5.0 engine in the XK (which actually appeared, here in the UK at least, in 2009). I think the shifter was used in the XF first, can't recall exactly. I would say anything with a J-gate and a 5.0 engine has to be something custom.
