Default Newbie question

Just acquired a 2014 V6S convertible. Looking online and in the manual, I can find no reference for checking the automatic transmission fluid. Is the gearbox sealed, or am I missing something?

JLR considers the auto transmission fluid good for life; however, it's a ZF transmission, and ZF does NOT consider it good for life. I asked my dealer to change mine last time they had the car, and they said they prefer not to do that unless there's an issue with the transmission. I still plan to change mine in the near future. There are some threads here on changing the transmission fluid, which some have done themselves. ZF has the procedure, which looks like a real PITA.

Note that you might consider changing the diff fluid, if that hasn't been done.

thanks for the quick answer...I had seen conflicting information on line about the ZF box...thanks for clearing it up. I have the car in for service tomorrow to change out the switch module on the steering wheel...will have the diff fluid done also.

FYI, a nice mod for your car is the SmartTop controller, so that you can raise/lower the roof (and open/close the windows) using the remote. I use mine all the time.
mods4cars smartTOP - remoteTOP - remoteKEY Porsche Carrera Boxster Mercedes Benz SLK SL CLK Comfort One-Touch Soft-Top roof control units and Comfort remote controllers

Welcome to the forum. Enjoy the car; it's a hoot.

@texas jag, the fluid in the gearbox should be changed every 60,000 miles/100,000 km or after 5 years.

A Jaguar main dealer or specialist should be able to perform the service if you're not able to do it yourself.

I'll second the smart top recommendation. In addition to being able to use the FOB to open/close the top and windows, you can also program several defaults in the car's setup. Piece of cake to install.

I also agree with Dave's suggestion on the diff fluid. Had mine done last year. No plans on the transmission fluid for now.

Not for my MY18 they don't - it's scheduled at 9 years (144,000 miles!). I'd guess most owners would be within the 60,000 mile range at 9 years, though.
