No sound from OEM Navigation while driving
Has anyone experienced this in their F-Type? I have a 2018 400 sport coupe since May 1st and whenever I use the factory navigation, there are no audible directions (e.g. "make a left at the next light", "take the next exit 20",etc). I checked all of the settings and I can't get it to work. Nothing is muted, sound is up, I even hear like a little pause when the audibles should happen but...nothing. Stopped by the dealership today and had one of their guys ride along with me and he couldn't get it to work but he seemed a little ditsy. I knew it wasn't going to go well when he tried to turn the climate knob and then asked if that was the volume....
Every other aspect of the infotainment works as it should. Music, Bluetooth, radio, etc. Just the navi audio prompts...
Help!

There is some way to change the volume of just the navigation. But it was something "special", like changing the volume while the nav was speaking, which, of course, is very difficult if you can hear it. Having a mixer in the menu somewhere would have made it too easy.
I haven't had to do it on the F-Type but I do remember figuring it out on my old XE. Check the user manual in case it says something. Since this system is the same in various models, also search in other forums to see if someone wrote out how to do it.

On my nav screen there is a small sound icon on the top left. If you tap it once the icon gets a line through it indicating the sound is off. Tap it again and the line goes away and the sound comes back on.
I know of two fixes for this. I had that exact problem on my 2018.
Fix #1 - While backing up when the backup sensors are beeping adjust the radio volume. That changes the volume of the beeps, which is the same volume as the navigation voice guidance.
Fix #2 - Make a trip to the local JLR dealer and have them completely reinstall InControl. Mine took two tries. The update takes hours to do. The first time on mine it failed with no error messages. They had to keep the car overnight and try it again the next day. Once they did that all was well.
From what I was told at the dealer an earlier InControl update (not sure which one) breaks the voice guidance necessitating that InControl be reinstalled to fix it.

You can change the volume of navigational advice simply by turning the VOLUME knob while the Dashboard Nanny is talking.
I just found this out recently.
Apparently the head unit works like this for many 'modes'.
EG, we 'Vert owners have entirely different sound system settings with the top down. But, you need to set them when the top is down.

Father recently experienced this in his 400 Sport and was able to get it sorted at Paretti Jaguar in New Orleans.
You may want to give the Service Manager Craig Connelly a call to see what they did to sort it.

I love everything having to do with "sound" in the speakers of my Jaguar. Mine is an XE, but from nearly the same year as your F-Type. Most fun I've ever had listening to music and sound in any car I ever owned or rented, except perhaps a Rover Velar. Just so you know, your speaker array and Audio head unit globally affect the sound of EVERYTHING in your car, more bass in the navigation nanny's voice, less stereo effect in the object-detection radar beeping, etc. Your audio sound system levels slightly effect the sharpness or tone of those warning sounds and voices, even though you adjust those levels with only the sound of your music in mind.
But the sound system does NOT operate the volume controls for Nav, Phone, and Parking Aids. The General Settings menu will route you to those controls. The WRETCHED crime I think Jaguar committed was making such a nice sound system,...and NOT giving us the proper book of instructions so we know how to fully set up and enjoy what we've got. Curse Jaguar for that.
So anyway, going back to the fixes. Your F-Type menu layout may differ a bit from my XE's so bear with me. Turn the car engine off. Turn the ignition ON, for accessories only. Next to your touchscreen, click the General Setting hard key. (Hard keys 'click', Soft keys just beep) On the Touchscreen, find SYSTEM, then tap SOUNDS, and you'll find three or four colored settings to adjust. Tap the Navigation sound setting all the way up to maximum.
THEN, click the Navigation hard key, to bring up the Navigation map on your touchscreen. Touch that Navigation Setting menu in the lower corner of your touchscreen. On that very next screen that appears, look for a line that says "Play voice prompts", and make sure that little box is ticked.
Give the Navigation system a route to find, and wait for that voice. This is the only Owner-test we can perform as owners.
If you DO now hear the voice, you'll know the system is operating, and you can tone down the volume of her annoying prompts to your liking later. Sometimes a traffic information message or a tracking message being received by the system can cause your navigation system to forget some of your settings and go "back to default" all by itself. So don't be alarmed if it happens again from time to time. Seven times a year I'll find that my custom settings on the XE Nav system have been removed and returned to default---no explanation. The computer age is the most unreliable age we live in, LOL.
If you DON'T hear the voice after doing this test, this means there's a glitch in the Navigation software that is blocking it from accessing your audio sound system (just like your hands-free phone software, it needs permission from your audio head unit to commandeer the speakers). And a glitch in your Nav software has to be taken to the mechanics to resolve. HOPE you don't need to do this, because not only is the other poster quite correct that it often doesn't work with just one reset,.. but it also sometimes triggers your Audio Head unit to need its own reset, due to a loss in the quality of the bass sound in your speakers
