Default OBD 2 scanner.

Dear all,
newbie here.

Please advise me on which OBD 2 scanner to buy that will best accommodate my 20016 3.0 F-type.
I need it also to be able to monitor the temperature of the transmission oil
Thank you.

We have a large dedicated thread on which scanners people have used on their Jaguar's?

Always a good place to start.

Thank you but this is a 14-year-old thread. Surely there must be a lot of more modern scanners now.

There are many suggestions over many years and you can see what's current at the end of the thread. It's still open and active.

Although I' 'm inclined to get the iCarsoft LR V3.0.So far I have bought all the coolant pipes and thermostat housing in aluminum. The OBD2 is next in line.
My brother wants me to get something that is not brand specific, like the Icarsoft LR V3.0 so that he can use it on his Mercedes cars.

Another option is the torque app on an android phone but that just reads and resets codes and can display real time PIDs - no bidirectional control. But it is great for monitoring coolant, gearbox, and oil temp as well as AIT, oil level and battery/charging voltages. I use it for displaying coolant and engine oil temp while I'm driving. It's cheap <$10 if you already have an android phone. If you don't have an android phone you can buy one cheap <$100 on amazon and use it as an inexpensive tablet.

Forgot to add that you also need a bluetooth OBD dongle to use torque with an android phone the following works well:
Amazon Amazon
