I have had my OBD scanner claim is was not connecting at times on my cars. Not sure what the problem is but generally disconnecting and reconnecting would make it work again. Perhaps try a different test station? BTW; do you have an OBD reader? Does it connect and if so, do you have any current OBD problem codes being reported?

out the issue.
I have a very high-end Autel MaxiSys Elite scan tool that does not like to communicate with our 2003 XJ8, so instead I use my Launch Creader VIII, which may be 10 years old. I suspect there is a problem in the software in the Autel that causes it to not recognize the X308. Ask your mechanic if he has an older scan tool he can try on your car.
Cheers,
Don

Again, does your OBD scanner connect and read NOW? If so, the issue is at the inspector. Take the car back, connect your scanner and show him the P1111.
Maybe he has an older scanner.
Recognizing it is New York! What's happening to my Yankees?

I have an Autel MX808 MaxiCheck and haven't had any problems connecting. Do you subscribe to the updates?

I think I would not show a P1111 - it's Jaguar-specific and anyway a pending code so doesn't count for smog.
His OBD tool should use the proper OBD stuff e.g. to read OBD monitor status as well as DTCs.

Yes, I re-subscribe the MaxiSys Elite about every 2 or 3 years when they have a 50% off sale, and about the same for my four or five other lesser Autel tools (MaxiCheck, etc.) During the 12-month periods when the tools have active subscriptions, I install all the relevant updates that are offered for vehicles I work on.

If you registered your Autel, they should send you emails when they are having discounted sales on the subscriptions.
I did, and they do. But, those emails go to the "Promotions" box in gmail, and I usually only go there to clean it out. I'll have to fix that so the emails show up in the inbox.
