Default Occasional belt squeal V6

So my September 16 v6 occasionally makes a sound like a loose fan belt screech. Oddly it only does it at the first traffic light stop which is about 400yds from my house and only if it's from a cold start. The sound is loud and lasts about 3 seconds. I cannot recreate the noise at any other time. Anyone else had this?

The only mention of belt squeal I have come across on this F-Type forum was from a replacement supercharger belt that was too long after a crank pulley swap.

The engine has pretty stout tensioners for the accessory and supercharger belts.

Did you or previous owner ever replace either belt?

On the F-Type it could be as simple as belt wearing out (but not usual at 17k) or its a sign that something is starting to make one of the belt systems hard to turn. (Inner Belt : alt, AC, Waterpump, PS---Outer belt: supercharger or one of the idlers)....just keep an eye on it and see if any other "issues" correlate to the squeak. normally i would tell people to disregard a squeaky belt if it goes away...but its not common on F-types. What variant F-type do you have?

It's a 3.0 s/c auto. Weird how the squeal is only at idle and doesnt occur when revving the engine like a typical loose belt would.

I had that problem with a bad belt. Got worse when cold outside.

Hi mate, did you get this sorted in the end? What did it turn out to be? I have the same issue and want to sort before the cold weather comes!

Have either of the pulleys been changed on your SC drive?

Hi. No the noise went away in the summer. I suspect it will come back now it's turning colder and damper. I need to get under the car and remove the trays and have a good look.

It will come back when the weather turns cooler. Don't waste too much time. Spend $50-80 on a new belt. They're easy to replace.

I have exactly the same problem as you.

Did anyone get anywhere as to working out exactly what it was or what belt etc?

Generally a new belt will fix the problem.

I replied in his other thread. But both belts changed and all pulleys and tensioners checked. I still get an occasional squeel when it's been left unused in cold damp weather. Mine lives outside.

How long does it take to subside after you start driving?
