Cancelling this request. All of the options I was considering to fabricate a tow hook for use on an unmolested P7 grille came up snake eyes.
I have been living on borrowed time traveling without a tow hook for the past 2+ years. With 2 major road trips coming up this year, I finally decided to take a more straight forward approach yielding the following result:

I now have some peace of mind.

Can't find my tow hook from when I had my shop install the grille. It's not a good sign when you give up Unhingd lol

well said - I am planning to do my p7 grille this summer, I am starting to consider options for the tow hook. I am happy to contribute with a donor hook or some cash to develop an elegant solution - if I work it out myself, I’ll post back.

also, looks like maybe a thinner hook would clear without having to drill/trim the surround. I have no issue cutting a piece of honeycomb, but would really like a solution that didn’t require cutting. If not, I may fabricate it and smooth it all out and then paint it.

A thinner shaft wont work since the surround covers a full half of the hole. In addition to removing a half a honey comb, the frame of the grille is ground in addition to the surround. (Not enough to weaken anything). I’m thinking of finishing the ground off surfaces with PlastiDip.

So glad you gents have mentioned this. My surround is going to be vinyl wrapped on the 25th. I'll drill the 1/2 hole as depicted above before its wrapped and it should turn out pretty well. Cheers!

I agree. The reason mine looks a bit ragged in the edge is due to the wrap already on the surround. I think wrapping over the edge of the hole would look good much better.

Was investigating the tow hook area on with my P7 grill yesterday. Looked only for something angled/offset to avoid drilling. Found something that might work because if we can get a shorter screw with correct threading patterns:

AE86 pulling hook kit

Thoughts?

That looks good, but what are you going to bolt it to?

If we can get a shorter bolt with the necessary thread pattern, this could be attached to front tow hook slot. Hoping it can fit between the P7 grill and the loop can sneak between the grill openings if we position it correctly. Would it be strong enough ?

The eye looks plenty strong, in that it looks like the hooks I've seen on other cars. It's what it bolts to that I'd worry about. The force is not in line with the threaded portion, so there would be a torque on the fastener. I haven't looked at the piece that the tow hook bolts to, but it may need reinforcement for that sort of force.

Yes, and a much larger diameter than that shown.

Back on topic - the P7 grille, not the tow hook!

An interesting new listing I just found on AliExpress:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000...archweb201603_

The ad says:"Package: front lip, rear diffuser, side skirts, front grill, air intake

Material: double side carbon fiber(pefect quality)

Fitment: fit for Jaguar F-type 5.0T (we have this for 3.9T also , if you need it , please just contact , thanks)

Instructions: not included"
US $250 for all of that, in carbon fibre, sounds waaay too good to be true!
And there are pics of the grille only, nothing else, so I suspect that low low price really is the grille only.
Especially as just above the previous wording it says:
"For 13-16 Jaguar F-type 5.0T carbon fiber bodykit front grill".
As for quality and fit, my guess is it would be a real crap shoot. And probably no easy way to mount parking sensors.
Who wants to be the first the try it????

I think what they mean is the grille is part of a full complete body kit. It's $3500+shipping, here's the link.
#Aliexpress US $3,500.00 | For 13-16 Jaguar F-type 5.0T carbon fiber bodykit (front lip, rear diffuser, side skirts, front grill, air intake)

Yep, makes sense now.
But $250 US for the grille might be worth a punt!
