As this 3D printed one is a single piece, not really. You could technically use the real P7 mesh with the carbon surround if you wanted to, cheaper as well. but honestly, the more I think about the 3D printed grill, it will NEVER be able to have the finish it needs for my satisfaction. Unless someone could take the CAD file that this is created from and have someone build an actual molded part, which is probably very expensive.

My plan is to have a high quality part available. Give me 6-8 weeks and I will report back to the board. It will NOT be a 3D printed part...

So a quick update on this. This is pretty much a done pursuit. They are simply unwilling to adjust to meet the demands to make this a great product. I will wait to see what Mike comes up with on his idea.

Hopefully Mcphill will come through. If not, who/what is the "overseas source for under $200" that you spoke of for the surround?

After looking at pics of a retrofitted car, I think I would just leave the stock grill. That bumper bar really stands out behind the grill and looks unfinished.

Painting it black could help out. Or maybe it already is and it's a camera flash that is causing it to pop like that. I've seen one in person and it was not that pronounced.

Right about that. If you squat down to grill eye level, or direct light, or camera flash, the bar can seem to be pronounced. The rest of time, if you're standing up and looking at the front, or seeing the car in the wild without extra lighting, it's not very noticeable or even invisible.

Personally . . . I'd rather have my P7 grill and paint the bar blaze orange behind it than have that hideous stock grill diaper in front of it:

Your photos certainly show a drastic difference to the good. Makes sense what you are staying about the flash/lighting too.

The truth is somewhere in between. But if you google image search the actual P7, you'll see the bar it's closer to invisible than distracting.

So, in the end, I have four quesitons:

1. How much?
2. How hard to install it (diy or body shop...)?
3. When?
4. If I can wrap my head around the above, how do we get in line?

Thank you to the organizer(s) - seems like a cool idea.
