Parts to change on used engine swap
I’m going to be doing an engine swap in the next month. Does anyone have a good parts list of what I should go ahead and change before I put the replacement engine in?
The donor engine has around 80k miles.
Obviously I’m going to do the y-pipes, plugs, and probably injectors. Should I do the timing chains as well. Curious if there’s any oddball things I should change that are a pain in the *** to do if the engine is in the car.

Both valve cover and upper and lower timing cover gaskets would be a good bet. The passenger side valve cover has fuel lines that go over the top and is not fun to deal with while inside the engine bay. One of the fuel lines does not have a union, so the proper way is to fully disconnect it and in order to do that you have to remove the engine mount as the fuel rail snakes in behind the mount. I have seen videos of people bending the fuel lines out of the way, and while the fuel lines are robust, I could never recommend doing that.
Check the PCV valves in the passenger side valve cover.
Check for oil leaks all over, especially around the alternator area, replace alternator if oil found.
Inspect oil cooler for damage or leaks.
Inspect supercharger pulley for excessive play, maybe remove snout and inspect input shaft and upgrade to official Eaton solid coupler.
Personal opinion: Don't bother putting the Symposer in because it sucks anyways and makes the coolant pipe back there even more of a headache during replacement of the coolant pipe. VelocityAP makes a blank off plate.
Is the engine from a fellow 2015 F-Type?
Are you planning to re-use any parts from your old damage engine? Also, what happened to your original engine?
This is a great video of disassembly of the 5.0S if you haven't seen it.

The donor is from an XF. I’ll swap over the relevant sensors and harness. I’m guessing the torque converter/flywheel is different. I’ll use whichever supercharger looks to be in better shape.

Thanks for the info! That’s exactly what I was looking for. Pretty sure the old engine spun a bearing or threw the timing chain. Dumped a bunch of oil and died idling in my driveway.

The early XF 5.0 SC came with the ZF 6HP28 and didn't adopt the ZF 8HP70 (same basic box as the F-Type) until 2012/13, and I reckon it is odds on that you can't whack an 8 speeder on the back of an earlier XF 5.0 without a custom adapter plate.
You could have a problem with fitting the gearbox depending on the year of the XF donor.
