Here is the follow up on mine. Placement look which is non intrusive and the view of my case with the metal plat inside of my case. Holds really strong.

After looking at all the suggestions in this thread and then visually evaluating all the potential interior real estate in an F-Type, I realized that I wanted to mount my phone on the headliner in the space between the visor and the sunroof opening. I tried to think of how to effectively attach something in between the headliner and the windshield header structure and then decided to look at Amazon, where I found this:
Jebsen's Magnetic Phone Mount Jebsen's Magnetic Phone Mount
. It's perfect for what I wanted (and cheap too!). I simply removed the adhesive protective film, opened the sunroof cover (although there's plenty of space without doing so), and slipped it into the gap between the headliner and the hidden structure behind it. The mount holds the phone just fine in portrait or landscape and is securely positioned and it doesn't interfere at all with the sunroof cover. The only drawback to this mount is that it does not include charging, wireless or otherwise. That's not a big consideration for me in this car anyway. I've attached pics of the mount before and after installation and pics of an old phone mounted in portrait and landscape (I had to use my current phone to take pictures). I hope this helps.

My "grab bar" one just broke, and I want it back to being closer to line of sight, and this is interesting.
It's pretty amazing they've had nearly 10 years with this car and the rise of cellphones to not solve this annoyance for us.

I like this unit a lot. I've taken several 1,000+ mile trips with it and had zero issues. Never falls off, never gets in the way, and it's up in your line of sight so you don't have to look down. And It doesn't require anything hard to reverse like a stick on pad.

It is on Amazon, but for some reason when I try to put in a link here it does not work.

Some people have disliked vent mounts like this because they feel it blocks airflow, but I have not found that to be an issue even in Nevada in the summer. The phone stands off from the vent enough that it really does not block it. I like this location for the power cord routing as well. Run out the back of the center console cubby, tuck under the console trim running forward, loop over the steering column, and the cord hangs right were you want it.

How did you get a speedo in KPH in the US? (Or does your car do 300MPH? )

Love this cell holder. No need to use the vents, keeps the dash clear, good angle for the driver, and the magnet holds very securely.

Doesn't this mark the leather underneath? Phones are quite heavy these days, I wonder if this could permanently compress/depress the leather/vinyl.

it’s actually quite gentle on the leather. It’s up to you how tight you want to wrap it but it’s very soft material for that reason.
