Porterfield pads
Just about to buy a set for my V8R - Fed up with the crud from the OEM pads.
Car has little wear on the discs as it's only done 13K, so I'm sure the new R4-S's will conform to the ridges/grooves etc.
Just wondered, apart form the usual service mode for the rears, if there's any other points to note before I fit them myself?
TIA

You need a 9 mm hex driver (not common) for the front caliper slide pins, and the front anti-rattle clips can be a bear to re-install unless you have "the knack".
Here is my method: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...3/#post2085923

Be really careful when removing and reinstalling the pad wear sensors. The clip portion that holds them onto the pads is very brittle. If you break one and it doesn't show a pad fault tie it up into wheel well with zip tie until you can get a new one or just leave it that way until next pad replacement. I just keep a spare handy. They are cheap.

Just one more tip - coat all the spots where the calipers come in contact with the caliper brackets and the backs of the pads with high-temp brake grease to prevent squeaks and squeals.
I also clean the caliper slide pins and apply a thin smear of brake grease to them although some say you should not grease the pins as that supposedly attracts brake dust etc to them although that has never been the case for me.

Got it all, thanks Gents.
Garage want to charge me approx. 80 bucks in the UK to fit all 4 corners which is amazingly cheap IMO.
I'm leaning towards doing them myself to say that I've actually done the job and to ensure it's done 100%.....
