Default PSS Tire Swap Question - Costs?

I am considering swapping the stock tires for a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports. The price per tire from the dealer (Plano Jag) seems ok. They want $190 per tire for new sensors and $150 to program them.

This is mostly because I want to keep the existing stock tires (with the Tornado wheels) as a back up to the new PSS + Gyrodine wheels.

For those of you who have done this - are these costs (sensors) in line, or do they seem steep?

Thanks

Orkney

Sensors seem expensive, but I have only bought them for an XF. On my XF they were self programming. Is this a new development with f type or just dealer cash flow strategy?

Totally unreasonable. Go to a good performance wheel and tire shop. They will charge you $50-80 for each sensor, $20-30 to mount and balance each wheel and throw in the programming for free. If I remember correctly, you got your car after I got mine (july 2015) as a factory order , so make certain the shop installs 433 Mhz sensors. Jag sensors no different than any others.

If Jag sensors are no different then why change them out unless they are broken. In my other sport oriented car I am on my fourth set of tires and same sensors. Also and tire place should be able to reset the sensors for you
That is if they are no different than other cars sensors.

They might be a different frequency even though the function the same. Somewhere around VIN K26000, the frequency on the Jags was changed from 315Mhz to 433Mhz. Prices have come down. Here's one for $29:Autel MX-Sensor 433MHz TPMS Diagnostic & Service Tool Programmable Universal TPMS Sensor MX Sensor 433MHz-Newegg.com

It's not so much changing out the sensors on the Gyrodines as having a second set of sensors. The idea is to have two complete set of tires and wheels.

I just purchased after market wheels and tires on line. I was concerned that the wrong sensors would be installed as my 2015 V6S takes the 315 mhz sensors. I gave them the vin #. When I installed them, it took about 50 miles before they would sync. I don't why you would have to pay Jaguar to sync them. Just my 2 cents.

With a standard synching tool, the sensors can be immediately synched. A good tire shop will do this for free.

Gotcha. Missed that you wanted a second set of rims and tires.

Default programming sensors is a plain rip

Drive on the new set for about a half an hour and save yourself that $150.

FWIW for other people swapping out tires. I just ordered a set through my dealer and they beat the Tire Rack price with the benefit of not having to go to a random tire shop.
