Default Purchase advice for a new guy

Hi all, After years of drooling I have just started seriously looking for my dream F Type. I am looking for a red or gray S Coupe. I was initially thinking about a MY 2015, but they seem pretty hard to come by. There appears to be A LOT of 2016s and 2017s on the market.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like there is not a lot of difference in the S trim level from 2015-2017.

From everyone's experiences...other than the price difference, is there any reason to go with one model year over another?

Thanks in advance for your wisdom.

FYI 2015 warranty was 4 years, 50k miles, 2016+ was 5 years, 60k miles. If warranty is important to you, you may want to rule out a MY15.

Speaking as an elated owner of a 2015 V6S Coupe for the past 5 years, there are many of us who believe the first year models offer the “best” in styling (as later years added a few bits here and there which many of us - certainly not all - felt detracted from the “original” design). But I think you’re right in that 2015-2017 are pretty similar (although others here can provide more detailed information).

And, as many of us here can state, we’re not selling!

Good luck.

Very good point on the warranty.

The stereo/infotainment was improved on the 2016 model and then again mid way through that year. The later 2015 builds (which we call the 2016.5MY) had a good system but it is hard to tell from the previous half years which was the old system pretending to be the new one by a new face.

The 2016MY also got EPAS which I thought was an improvement but some people didnt like.

I would find it hard to go back to the 2015MY infotainment as I had it in a XF and didnt like it, but others might not find it an issue at all.
