Default Question about shift paddles

Question about the shift paddles in the V6S auto MY 2016.

The manual says: "The gear shift paddles can be switched on and off, and configured to operate in 'S only' or 'D and S' via the Vehicle Settings menu" (p. 87).

I understood the first part of that quote to mean, well, what is says: that the paddles can be turned off, i.e. rendered non-functional. Which is what I wanted and tried to do. But I found no setting to switch them off. Just "S only" or "D and S." What am I missing? Can they be turned off?

Thanks.

If you select "S only", the paddles will be disabled when in D. You cannot disable them for the S mode.

That is correct for all AT models.

I just wish pulling both would put it in Neutral, like on some cars. It would be nice to be able to put it in Neutral quickly to blip the throttle sometimes.

The shift lever does that.

As to disabling the paddles, it depends on how you've set the car up. If you set it so that the paddles are only active in S, then moving back to D will disable them. If you set it so they're active in S&D, the gearbox will revert to full auto if you don't use the paddles. In both modes, it starts off in full auto and only switches to paddles if you start using them. HTH.

Holding the right paddle in for a second or two will also revert it to full auto.
