A question on disabling start-stop button.
I guess it was the law.
I believe that when manufacturers introduced the start-stop feature, they upgraded the starter, the battery and the alternator. If we don't use the start-stop, all these components will last much longer.

There's a video on Youtube explaining what had to be changed to support stop/start - quite surprising as, among other things, it involves revising the engine timing so it starts from where it had stopped rather than needing to find a timing mark to sync things as in a cold start. Quite fascinating. But the battery and starter aren't that stressed starting a hot engine, so not sure about lasting "much longer" - my battery is coming up to 8 years now (hope that hasn't jinxed it).
I always hated the Start Stop on my car and it almost cause a couple of accidents. A couple of times I would come to a stop sign and come to a complete stop for about .3 sec. and the car would start its shut down sequence just as I stepped on the gas petal to beat traffic and the car would roll forward a little ways and shut down and not start. I would have to manually shut the car off then restart it while I'm sitting half way into an intersection. It's a good thing I didn't get T-Boned. After a couple time of that I disabled the Start Stop.
It seemed that if I stepped on the gas too soon while the car was starting its shut down sequence it would get confused and just shut down and die.

To repeat what has beeen stated many times: disabling the Stop/start connections does not affect any other system.
This. I cannot stress enough how awesome (and safe) SmartTop is and should be mandatory if you have a convertible. It not only makes top operation possible from the remote, but it can disable the stop/start for you automatically on every start up.
