I've reviewed several threads we have here about Quickjack and the F-Type, but I wanted to ask this one last question of anyone with Quickjack and F-Type experience...
If you had to do it all over again, would you use a Quickjack 5000-TL with a max lift point spread of 60 inches, OR would you use the 5000-TLX with a max lift point spread of 66 inches?
The weight difference between the two rails reads as 3.5 pounds, and I already have the wheels for this better mobility mod...
I ordered the 5000-TL from Home Depot, but they only sent one box, I could not get them to find the other two boxes they lost, so we had to return and cancel/refund the order.
So the good news here is I have one more opportunity here the get the BEST Quickjack for the F-Type S.
I have a BL-5000 SLX which has a 60" spread and don't have any issues. The lift points I use are just in front of the rear tire at the frame brace three bolt triangle and just behind the front tire where there is a thick aluminum rail. I posted photos on a thread on this forum a while back. If you search you can find it.
Hi RGPV6S, I did see where you posted... "I have the BL-5000SLX model and find it to be fine for working on my F-Type and other vehicles for the last two years. I don't feel it is too short at all.” But I could not find any photos from you.
In another thread Nait wrote... "This is the 5000-SLX model. Do note that the fore and aft lift points on the F Type are at the absolute limits of these frames. Honestly, the optimal spots are about 1-2" further apart than these frames allow, but I think it still reaches suitable spots." and he shows a clean lift... J
JasksonvilleJag writes about the 5000-TL…"I angled the fronts in to align with the correct lift points.” And he posts this photo where it looks like the two jacks are not in parallel…
I asked him if he has done a full lift with the jacks set like this, but I’ve not heard back from him.
Anything other than parallel with this type of lift "can" be a problem. How much a concern it may be is directly related to how non-parallel they are. The amount the load shifts is something like: Cos(angle between ramps) x Distance between lift points. The lifts can likely put up with "some" sideways movement, but how much very much depends upon a bunch of stuff we can't know. Best case, people here step up and say they use them all the time and they work fine, otherwise it's kinda sketchy. BTW, an alternative way, and much safer - if you have the room - is to orient the lifts sideways. The car will shift as it goes up but with this arrangement there's no issue about it sliding off one of the lifts.

Post #18 of this thread show the jacking points I use:
Thanks all, I really appreciate your sharing your personal experiences here.
Seems there has been good enough success here with folks using the 5000-TL Quickjack to lift the F-Type, although it sounds like it's going to be close indeed. What will also be nice is the measurements indicate I'll also be able to use the 5000-TL to lift my Honda Crosstour.
If this helps anyone thinking of purchasing the 5000-TL anytime soon, I found the 5000-TL on sale today at Costco for a savings of $300 off until 5/28/22 (QuickJack 5000TL Portable Car Lift System | Costco).
I've now placed my order.... and it's only a matter of time until I also get to experience 24 inches of lifted goodness!
Cheers Mates
I have the 60" spread but do wish I got the longer distance. Its barely ok in my opinion from a lift standpoint at 60" . The extra room gives a bit more play to get it right.
@RobMar - I just checked my 5000-TL order and it's already shipped. I would have cancelled it and gone with the TLX based on your input as you're not the only one who shared the fact 60" is just a few inches short. I do have the option to return the unopened boxes to my local store for a full refund, then order directly from Quickjack.Com. for an added $400 and a few weeks delay for my set-up. Costco does not sell the TLX. Would you make this switch given the option?

My unit has the 60" spread. I have used it on a RAV 4, Nissan Juke, and an F-Type. For the F-Type I used it for change brake pads, do a VAP crank pulley, replace O2 sensors and bleed brakes. On RAV 4 and Juke did brakes, rotated tires, changed engine and tranny oil. All of these applications were fine. Never thought 60" was too short. YMMV
Thanks again RGPV6S!
I called Costco and the 5000-TL has not in fact shipped from their warehouse, so they are going to try to cancel the order before it actually ships Monday. If they can't stop the shipping, I'll keep it when it gets here. If they do cancel and refund the order in time and do not ship it, I'll get the 5000-TLX directly from Quickjack.
At this point it seems to me that we know... the 5000-TL is GOOD... and the 5000-TLX is BETTER.
I just can't thank you all enough for helping get this question answered once and for all!
Have a great weekend!
A little late to the party. I had the original QuickJack BL-5000 (circa 2015) which has a maximum lifting spread of 60" and was way too short for the F-Type so earlier this year I ordered the new 5000TLX frames (still using my original pump and hoses). The 5000TLX is the perfect size for the F-Type and lets you reach the recommended lifting points with ease. The maximum lifting spread is 76" (vs 70" for the 5000TL). The extra 6" doesn't sound like much but it makes a world of different when lifting cars/trucks/SUVs that have defined lift points or long wheel bases.
Hi DanL,
Thanks for sharing your input, but could you please go back and check your lift point spread numbers, seems you may be off by 10 inches. The 5000-TLX reads as 66" max spread between lift points (not 76" per your post), and the 5000-TL lists as 60" (not 70" per your post), thanks so much for double checking.
I could not stop the shipping of the 5000-TL, so to switch to the 5000-TLX with a 66" lift spread I'll need to return the boxes to my local Costco and re-purchase the 5000-TLX with the 66" spread directly from Quickjack for $400 more.

Sorry, you're correct. For some reason I was thinking of the overall frame lengths, not the lift point spread. The original BL-5000 had an overall frame length (when collapsed) of 69" and the maximum lift point spread was 50.5". The 5000-TL frame length is, as you said, 70" when collapsed and the max lift point spread is 60" and the TLX has a 76" frame length spread and a max lift point spread of 66". The frame lengths are good to know in case you have a shorter wheelbase car and want to know if the frames will fit between the tires when collapsed.
BTW, you could always stick with the 5000-TL and if you find it too short, purchase the frame extender kit. They lay on top of the frames and add an extra 6" to the length while only adding an additional 1" of height.
FWIW, I have the TL. It's a bit of a pain to get situated (could really use a few extra inches), but it does work. I have also used the lift horizontally so the jacking points are even on the front and rear, but that's not much easier since our cars are so low to begin with, it's kinda hard to see no matter how you do it. You'll be fine with the TL, I wouldn't bother with the hassle of returning.
FYI, For those of you on the fence about getting a set of Quickjacks. Tomorrow 03/25/2025 they are having a 25% sale on all Quikjacks. https://quickjack.com/twentyfive

Uh, logged in around 6:30 am this morning and it read "the 25% sale is over!". I guess it was only on the 25th between 1am and 2am EST

I just now went on their web site and filled out an order and you put the discount code QJ25OFF in on checkout and it works (this is at 1:10 PM PST). I didn't finish the order after that because I already have a Quickjack but it did aptly the discount and the next step was the final buy.
