Default Rattle from Lockable Storage Compartment - Anyone?

Hi.

I have a '14 V8S with 16,000 miles on the odometer. The car had developed some creaks from the A-pillar early on, but the dealer injected some kind of epoxy sealant into the joints so that's mostly gone.

However, the (optional) fold-down storage compartment that's against the rear bulk-head rattles irritatingly over bumps. If I put my hand on the (closed) compartment door, and apply some pressure, then it stops so I know the noise is emanating from that area. However, I can't seem to figure out a permanent fix.

Has anyone else experienced/solved this problem?

Thanks.

Any idea if the locking fix was performed on yours? On mine, when I locked the car, the stowage compartment door would fall open, instead of locking! They have a fix for that - perhaps your issue is related to the locking mechanism?

Thank you DJS!

My locking mechanism works properly, so I've never had any cause to have the dealer look at it.

It may still be an issue with the latch adjustment.

Mine periodically buzzes a little around 3k rpm... hasn’t been bothersome enough to take to dealer. I try to keep it revved above that or crank up the stereo :-)

I don't think you can get to the head unit from it - the storage unit is located behind the seats in the convertible.

If you are referring to the unit in the dash panel " infotainment head unit", check this out as it is pretty well documented.

It depends on which head unit - harmen or bosh, I believe. Mine is in the centre console behind that cubby, as far as I’ve been told. Just don’t know how it get it it.

Yes mine rattled horribly, nothing i did really fixed it until i got some rubber feet and epoxied them on the contact point between the two lid and the bulkhead. took me a few sets to find the perfect spot (didn't glue them until i was sure).
The noise is coming from within the hinge area (many frustrating ride hrs to figure this out). that being said the rubber feet have more effect the closer you get to the hinge. i feel your pain on this as it was soo bad it would actually almost ruin my drive if i let it, it would rattle with low tones of my exhaust when cruising at respectable speeds lugging it. good luck!
