Replacing my windshield, what's a diversity antenna?
Unfortunately, a rock cracked my windshield and I now need to replace it. Safelite gives you three windshield options: 1)plain, 2)diversity antenna, and 3)heated. I definitely do not have heated living in Texas (it was a beautiful mid-80s day today in mid-November).
Does anyone know if a 2015 F-Type R comes with a diversity antenna? It's not on my window sticker, purchase order, or manual. Would a dealer VIN check find it? Thanks!

I don't mind getting cheaper after-market, because all the road debris will probably require another replacement at some point. Same thing with paint, I used to really baby the car spending $200-$300 every few months getting it detailed, but can't protect from construction trucks spewing rock chips and idiots nicking the paint in the parking lot. As long as I can still drive it 120mph on the country roads here in the Hill Country, I don't mind my car having some battle scars.

Turns out the option is for the plain windshield (not diversity antenna) for my R Coupe, which was a little cheaper. OEM glass from the dealer is $3300, OEM glass from Safelite $1100, after-market non-OEM glass $600. I've seen the same pattern for my Audi; the general rule of thumb is that dealers charge about 3x the price for an OEM part as after-market sources for the identical item. Even for a $100K+ car, saving $2K+ is no chump change!

I’m quite confused. I have just purchased a used MY 2015 F type V6s and sadly on day two, a rock cracked my windshield. I booked up Safelite only for them to arrive and say ‘ hmm I don’t have the correct glass for this car’. The technician checked with Safelite HQ and said that they don’t offer any generic replacement. The only option is $3,300 OEM.
Is this correct?

Maxsmith, I'm still going through this process, but let me try to help you out:
1)Safelite does not have an aftermarket version of the F-Type Glass; their systems say they do, but once you get there, the glass techs will see that it doesn't fit the car;
2)So you will have to get the OEM glass from a Jaguar dealer or supplier. My earlier post said the OEM glass was $3300, but thankfully the dealer goofed, and it is actually $1200. The dealer originally thought it was part #T2R18736, but for my COUPE F-Type R, it is T2R5278. Convertible may be different part. The T2R18736 for $3300 is for Project Seven F-Type. I was only able to find the right part by calling another Jag dealer in a different city after being suspicious about the cost.
3)I was getting approval from Geico to get the OEM glass installed at the new dealer, but another rep than the one helping me from Geico reached out to Safelite separately and gave them the ok to install. Geico glass claims seems very disorganized. So Safelite is ordering the OEM glass and will be installing.
4)I would have preferred a dealer installing the OEM glass, just in case it doesn't match again, easier for them to exchange or return the glass than a third-party like Safelite.
I am waiting for the glass to come in and scheduled with Safelite this Saturday; will see if the glass matches and how the install goes. I have a $1000 collision deductible vs. ~$1400 total cost, so will pay most of it out of pocket. I probably would not have filed an insurance claim if had known the $3300 glass part originally quoted was not correct. The bad news for you and I, is that replacing an F-Type windshield will set you back $1000-$1500 and you will have to jump through hoops with insurance, because Safelite will tell your carrier they have the cheaper after-market glass, but it won't fit.

I prefer having an ample coverage ceiling with an umbrella to protect against a big loss, but if it's less than $1K, pay out of pocket vs. having an insurance claim on my record. Whatever insurance pays, they always will claw it back from you over a few pay cycles through a higher premium.

You were all correct. The $3300 OEM screen quote was a misquote and would only be correct if I had a project seven car (It would seem that there is some systemic issue applying the correct windshield part even when they use the VIN). The correct OEM screen cost via Safelite is $1200 . After deductible, insurance will cover it under my comprehensive coverage with Allstate. I am allowed one claim of this type per year without damage to my insurance record.
Thank you for the help.
