Default Reverse Traffic Detection not available

When I put the car in reverse, the rear camera operates normally but I get a warning message "Reverse Traffic Detection Not Available".
This means that I get no warning if somebody decides to drive by quickly while reversing out of a parking spot.
So, I booked it in at the dealer but now have to wait till January for an appointment.
I did the obvious. I cleaned the side sensors - they did not appear dirty. I checked the fuses and ensured all fuses in the rear set were in tight.
Any other ideas before I wait till January??

I have a thread about this. I have a brand new 21 R and my blind spot monitoring and reverse traffic doesnt work. Check fuse #10 in the cargo hatch fuse panel. Mine was loose and it worked for a while after I seated it. However, it stopped working again.

The BSM and rear traffic are on the same circuit and both use radar sensors mounted behind the rear bumper. You can see them if you get under the car and look near the bumper.

I too am waiting for an appointment. Very frustrating for a new $100k car.

What is the difference between BSM and reverse traffic detection?

Cgo - I now understand the BSM function is the side mirror warning system.
That seems to be working correctly.
It is normally illuminated and flashes when there is another vehicle to the side.

Cgo - it looks like I have the same problem afterall.
The BSM lights on the mirrors stay illuminated continuously.
From reading the manual, this appears to indicate a failure mode.
I have not been able to test in a real use situation yet but it certainly looks like bothe BSM and reverse traffic are not working.

when the system is off or faulted, each mirror has an illuminated dot. When it is functioning, no lights are illuminated unless there is a car in the blind spot at which point larger car like icons light up.

Check your center screen menu to make sure you have it set to alert or steering assist and not off.

You should also get a notification that bsm is unavailable if it is the same problem. When u put it in reverse, you'll get an icon showing a red x on rear corner of a car indicating that cross traffic is unavailable.

Also, it isnt the side mirrors, camera, or parking sensors that this system uses. It's two, specific radar-like modules mounted at each corner behind the bumper. That's why the parking sensors and rear camera still work.

Just got mine back from dealer today, issues with parking sensors... turned out to be a software upgrade that was necessary.

Thanks to input from another member I was able to get my January appointment updated to today at a different local (Boston) dealership, which needless to say will be my "go-to" from now on.
However, as I was pulling out of my garage to drive to Boston today, I discovered things had got worse.
Instead of the usual warng about cross traffic not working (and presumably also BSM), I had a totally blank central display.
I was unable to use nav, phone or anything else, and ended up navigating to the dealerhip using Waze on my phone.
Turns out similar to Valerie Stebanow, all issues were resolved with a software update.
What I do not understand is how those systems would go down without the very latest s/w update, especially since I actually did a s/w update just about a month ago.
On the subject of s/w updates, I understand they come out quite frequently just like that PITA software from Windows!!
Does anyone know how to identify the s/w version loaded to the car and how to determine whether it is up-to-date?
For now I am just hoping the issues have really been fixed.

Do you think they started to malfunction after a recent self software update
or did they malfunctioned even without a recent update.
Makes no logical sense why a electric component with no fault would work well with the original software for XX months/ years then stop working and require new software with no hardware fault. The original software has obviously proven to be working correctly for some time so there should be no change unless the system is somehow prone to software/code corruption.

Did not start after my self software update and had been intermittent problem prior to that.
So, now just waiting to see if the new s/w update really fixed anything.

Well, one of their solutions for failing O2 sensors was a software update to change the calibration. I’d expect the updates to taper off the longer you’ve had the car, don’t think my car has gotten one in years.

Well, the s/w update did not fix it.
Went to pull out fo the garage this morning and both BSM and rear cross traffic detection were out.
I am disppointed but hardly surprised. Now back to the dealership once again.

Yes, there is... it's posted somewhere, something about holding down the valet button for some amount of seconds. I did it right after getting my car a year ago, haven't done it since.. google 'access software version jaguar F type' or words to that effect... should find something that will help.

BATTERY, battery, battery.....low voltage can (and does) produce faults in any system!

Will put it on the CTEK today but doubt it will help. This car is driven a lot - 8K miles in 8 months..
The BSM and rear detection were working when I left the Boston dealership.
I drove home (30 miles). Did not work next morning after overnight in heated garage,

Charged on the CTEK for 8 hours to reach "green" status.
Still have the BSM and cross traffic problems, so not related to battery.
However, this did raise a question about battery charging while driving.
I went back to look at my trips over the past few months on the Jaguar Remote app.
Most were over 20 miles, many over 50 miles, with relatively few under 5 miles.
So even driving approx 1K miles/month the battery needed charging.
It is hard to tell the state of charge prior to putting it on the CTEK, but I am curious why a new 2021 battery would need so much attention given the way I have been driving.
Does this suggest a bad battery or a defective charging system?

So, my original problem is not resolved, and now I have another question to boot.
The car is booked in for an overnight (hopefully just one) with loaner in 2 weeks.
