Any one researched seat covers for the F Type performance seats?

Why would you spec them if you're going to fit stretch covers?

To paraphrase someone else on here, it's like not sleeping with your partner so that - subsequently - someone else has a better experience...

 

I asked this question a while back...I wanted seat covers because I have a puppy and don't want her to scratch the seats...couldn't find any custom fit ones...

 

Me neither. I have my dog on a blanket, not ideal. Did you manage to find anything better Shift?

 

I am guessing I will keep my upcoming manual F-Type about as long as I kept my current favorite, a 92 Legend Coupe. So more than a couple of decades. The reasons the seats in the Legend are still in good condition is that I have kept seat covers on them over the decades.

As I suspect this may be the last car I buy (for myself), I want to ensure longevity.

I will likely see if I can find someone to make them. If I meet with success, will share with the rest of the group.

Why not just enjoy the wonderful upholstery that comes with the car, which is a big part of it's overall ambiance. Then, when they begin to look tired in 10 years or so, have them reupholstered in new leather. It seems a shame to put seat covers over them. If you´re not going to use the original upholstery, what are you saving them for?

I used the 'instant seat covers' in the link below in my Ferrari. It worked great and easy to remove. Not form fitting, but better than a towel or blanket:

I use my butt as the seat cover!

 

I am basically of the same mind set and, as it so happens - first time since I've owned the car - drove home from work today with our adorable and exceptionally well-behaved 6 year old 18-pound Miniature Australian Labradoodle in the passenger seat (without the benefit of my wife serving as a human seat belt; works for us every day we drive to work in the F-Type) sitting on a blanket. Scarlett is super gentle and if she scratches the leather...so be it.

 

Ditto. I throw files and work stuff in the passenger seat all day. I would love to know if anyone has a cover that fits.

 

If the the aim is to protect the passenger seat from work and canine debris (dogs love mud...)a pack of the disposable seat covers used by car mechanics would seem ideal. At the end of each day you just fold them up and throw them in the bin with all the rubbish safely wrapped inside.

A towel is probably still a good idea with the dog.

Keeping the driver's seat leather clean (a damp microfibres cloth works wonders), and giving the leather an occasional treatment of leather care product should ensure it stays looking good for a really long time. Then, there's re-connolising the leather if the surface starts to wear, or - as Foosh mentions - getting them retrimmed.

 

I had Wet Okoles car seat covers on the front seats of my 2012, they wore like iron and looked as good last year when I traded it in on the 2015, if I had cloth seats in my 2015 or 2016, they would have had them too. Don't really feel the need with the Softex seats, although I do have some terry slip-ons to use as needed that fit the front seats and the rear passenger seat.

 

Since posting this many moons ago, I ended up with weather tech seat covers. They were a bit tough to get on, but have been working out well.
