Default show n go plate

Just wanted to let those in 2 license plate states know that I had the show n go plate by Altec installed this past weekend and it works perfectly. There is plenty of room under the 'curb warner' although it does require removing about 6 inches of same. The curb detector comes in 3 screw-on pieces so is easy to replace if the plate is no longer needed. Great product, love the ingenuity behind it. Corvettes of Dallas installed it for me (I got the remote controlled version), took about 2 hours but they hadn't done it on a Jaguar before. I added a little soft Velcro to the back of the holder because some of the plastic does touch the front bumper, so don't want any vibration scratches. Wouldn't have worried about it too much but it's a $200 fine in Texas if you get stopped (I was once before in a 370Z).

Also, Hello, new to the forum!

Welcome to the forum.

It's too bad you weren't aware of this solution, which doesn't require carving up your car, and is quite a bit more economical.

Your going to regret that one in a couple months, it will fall apart since the materials used are so cheap. I have used it on my previous car, ended up just running no front plate since I was too lazy to fix it.

You should really look into this one

Hey thanks for all the support! (j/K I can take it). As far as the sto and sho, I wanted something I can do remotely on the spot when my radar goes off. City cops are no problem but wouldn't put it past DPS to stop me. If it falls apart, lesson learned but since I don't plan to activate it very often, I'm not worried.

My thoughts are I'll always run the front plate when I'm driving the car. Why should I care, I can't see it then, and I sure don't care what other people think. If I don't like looking at it at other times, I'll pull the pin and stow it in 2 seconds.

I ordered the Altec Show n go frame before my car was delivered, when I got it I set up the wiring and waited for delivery. Then I realized that if I installed it I wouldn't even make it out of my driveway before I scraped it off. Love the idea of cutting some of the "curb scraper" out but don't think this will last in the real world.
I just ordered the Stow n show frame from Mike, I'll use that. I'll also refer my dealer to Mike, my dealer's solution was to tell me to carry a PBA card and have a good story ready (interference with parking sensors and cooling was my story).
My dream would be an Altec show n go that comes out of the lower air splitter -- the splitter would need to be cut, and small "lips" fashioned so it was flat and tight when the plate was retracted. But for now, I think Mike's solution is the best...
