Default Soft top seals rubber care

I had been driving convertibles for a very long time, my first one was right after I graduated. They all seem to suffer from the same rubber seal related problems. While over years, and with double seals, convertibles got a lot better, rubber compounds did not seem to improve that much.

So I learned you have to do yearly seal cleaning and conditioning if you want it to keep water and noise out.

For years, I used Gummi Pfledge, but recently switched to Wurth Rubber Care, but I would like to hear your recommendations.

I've been using Wurth for some time on the Jag's & Targa and have been pleased. I replaced the front seal on the e-Type many years ago, before giving it any special treatment, and it's held up ever since.

I just noticed on my F type that it was breaking down already. Have to take it in then continue to treat it as you described. I never knew this frankly!

Could you take pictures of your issue so the rest of us know where to spend extra time treating?

Would love to see this. I don't have a garage, and with the last bits of rain, I've been very impressed with the run off points on the car itself, but there is pooling at the seals of the body and vert. Would love to know if there is any care or maintenance to consider.... or any comments on older F-Types and whether there is penetration danger, etc.

I'm actually still unsure of what you guys are doing with this rubber stuff that is mentioned? Just applying it?

First, take damp rag and wipe the seals. Then take dry clean rag and dry them off. Then take the spray and shop paper towel and spray and wipe the chemical on seals, taking care not to spray other things, as it may stain fabrics.

I've never tried any of these products, but I like the stick applicator of the Gummi vs. the spray application of the Wurth.

Neither are currently available on Amazon, but 303 has a rubber protector with a sponge applicator that looks reasonable. I use their waterproofing on the convertible roof.

A seemingly concise, simple, rational conclusion. Thank you much!
