Talking Some Shaguar **** for my fellow F-ers...

Thought some of you might enjoy what I decided to do with my 2014 Jaguar F Type S.

After much consideration, I decided to wrap the entire car in Avery Matte Blue Metallic. I know a couple of people have already wrapped their F Types, however, I have yet to see any in blue. I only have progress pics(as it is a work in progress) and I am still waiting for the side and hood vents to be wrapped in gloss black and the emblems to be painted in a matching black. In my opinion, this is going to be one BAD *SS KITTY when its completed.

Let me know your thoughts! I am also wondering what I should do with my wheels?????

I would paint the wheels matte black.

I love matte paints and finishes. My M5 is matte gray from the factory. However I personally don't like matte colors. I find matte metallic shades like gray and silver look great because the matte makes it look like real metal. Matte colors to me just look unfinished.

But they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so enjoy.

Looking good, Lance.

On your wheels, instead of going with all one color, you might want to play around with a contrasted wheel. Color the inside of the wheel (rim and barrel) in black or dark gunmetal, leaving the outside of the (Cyclone?) wheel spokes as they are. The effect would be similar to one of the wheel-types on the R Coupe--the black and diamond turned Gyrodyne wheel (though your rim color would be darker).

Funny I think the opposite. I don't like matte gray or black because it just looks like primer or rattle can paint jobs you see on half wrecked civics and mustangs. Matte color at least looks on purpose or is unique.

Like you say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Everyone sees something different. I don't like flat red either, but I love red metallic.

Is it easier to maintain a matte wrap versus factory matte paint job? I've always heard that matte paint is incredibly hard to maintain without special care.

I think the matte gray and black you refer to are probably wraps. The wraps tend to lack the depth of a real matte paint.

Maintenance of satin paints is extremely easy. The M5 Frozen paint is the lowest maintenance paint on a car I have ever had. In fact my goal was never to buy a gloss finish ever again, but unfortunately Jaguar doesn't have these satin paints.

Nope definitely paint from the factory. I agree though that the wraps usually look worse (in my eyes) than the paint. I've seen the factory options from Audi and BMW and I just never liked them unless they had some kind of tint, or added in some dual-tone glossy accents.
