Default Supercharger belt replacement

I have a 2014 F Type base. The service manual says that the supercharger belt should be replaced at 6 years. I only have 31,000 miles on the car and it is garaged.
Has anyone had this service done yet? Is this something that could be done by an at home garage mechanic? If not what type of bill should I expect. It would seem
to me to be primarily a labor issue. Is it necessary to change the belt with such little mileage on the car?

Hmm, I may have missed that one (8 years, 67k miles). SC was off this fall for isolator replacement, would have been a good time to do it.

Yours is based on timing as opposed to mileage, and yes it can be done as a DIY. I have a link below on my drive to help you if you try it, as well as the Maint Schedule.

Not that hard to do. Need to jack up front of car so you can slide under it (safety jacks).

Then follow the steps in this thread to remove belt :

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...pulley-179588/

Putting belt back on requires some care to make sure it is fully seated on all the pulleys or the new belt will fall off or get shreded.

Whole job takes about an hour and a half or so because there are a million bolts and screws to deal with.

I have replaced that belt without going underneath. Removing the intake crossover tube (couple minute job) gives a sufficient view to ensure that the belt is properly located on the lower pulley. Not having to R&R the belly pan saves about an hour of menial labor.

Must be a bear to get at the tensioner to release the belt tension from the top (seems to be a brace in the way) and also to the thread the belt properly without access to top and bottom of the front of the engine. This is from my experience removing/replacing the belt twice (VAP supplied wrong belt with crank pulley).

Correct. Its a bear but do-able. Worst part is finding the cutout in the tensioner. As you can get a merit badge for doing it this way, as well as being able to remove 100 screws in 10 minutes, its a wash.

Having the right length socket extension is critical to success.

In my service manual (MY 2017) says that the supercharger belt should be replaced at 9 years. I do not understand why it is so much longer the interval for MY 2017?

The geometry of the pulley system changed in 2017.

I was quoted ~$350 at an independent shop to do both the S/C drive belt and the accessory serpentine belt (their recommendation that they do both at the same time).

if that price includes the belts, it’s a fair deal.
