The dealer might have thought he was placing orders for '15's, but I'm willing to bet that they were actually '16's in allocation. To my knowledge the factory stopped excepting new orders sometime in the later part of Nov. or early Dec.

The ability of any dealer to enter orders depends entirely on when JLR decides they can enter orders. I ran across one dealer yesterday who still has 3 new MY14s and 3 new MY15s on their lot. JLR is not opening an order call for them until later this year for Fall delivery. (anybody want a $12 k discount on an MY14?)

Now of course they could have a port hold on these cars, which could delay delivery. This is quite common if they need to flash software or retrofit vehicles with last minute parts.
Just for grins, I did a little research on the Atlantic Conveyor. It's not one of pure auto transports because it also carries containers, but it does have a dedicated auto deck, with a stern ramp, and can transport around 1000 cars.

The really good news is that it is one of the faster ships capable of cruising at 16kts., and good for 8 day trans-Atlantic crossings.

My Jag is officially listed as loaded on vessel. Hopefully the seas will be calm and she gets to Baltimore on time!

If I read this right there are 92 other cars on the boat. Potentially all F types... potentially JLR vehicles... Potentially random. So basically I know nothing.

No need to pester him. The info will go up on the Jaguar website at the same time the info is broadcast out to the dealerships. Same thing happened with the announcement of the 2016 MY offerings on November 19.

Hmm, my dealer just got delivery off a truck today of a 2015 F type built in January 2015. He even sent me a photo of the manufacture date on the door sill.

Documents I have says the model year's are shown in the VIN, 10th digit

E = 2013
F = 2014

I don't know if it follows on with G = 2015 & H = 2016 accordingly, but that would appear to be a 2014MY ?

Were the 2015MY cars the same spec as 2014MY?

With other Jag models you could have a car build in the calendar year later than the model year. Model year is specification, rather than when it was built.

F looks like a 2015 model number, every Ftype listed here is 2015 and has F as the 10th digit

Wikipedia says 'F' = 2015 (or 1985), for what it's worth.

My 2014 has an E in the 10th position, and it was built in 10/13.

The VIN picture above is an F, suggesting it is a 2015

Fair enough, wouldn't be the first time Jag documents were wrong...

I'm surprised too. Everything I've seen would suggest that a car manufactured in 1/15 would be a 2016.

Manufacturers can more or less choose when a vehicle changes a model year. G does indeed = 2016, which is what my VIN has as the 10th digit.

A 2015MY built in 2015 is not that surprising, it's happened with other models...

No I meant the document I have which gives the code for the MY in the VIN is wrong, obviously the cars themselves will be right.

Today I ordered a 2016 F Type R AWD-f-type-vin-wrong..jpg

Just out of curiosity, how would you spot the difference between a 2014MY & 2015MY V6, V6S or V8S without checking the VIN or other documents?

Obviously the R is only 2015MY but the other models were around since the beginning and apart from options/accessories, there were no major changes...

EDIT

Aha!

So who's got a 2014MY or 2015MY V6, V6S or V8S, is it E or F in the VIN?

EDIT AGAIN

Here's a V6S with E in the VIN 2014 Jaguar F-TYPE V6 S - Stock #DX4717 - Sale Price: $69,715 - M.S.R.P.: $84,715 so that's a 2014MY or 2013MY ???
