I haven't found an answer (or vacuum diagram) via SEARCH...so help me out.

2014 base F (built in 2013)
Currently mucking about with the symposer, and have a black plastic vacuum line that I can't find where to connect.

It comes from the rear (left side of the trans) and has a 'hook' shape on the end. No rubber end fitting. Crawled under the car and can't see where it goes, from under there. No exhaust valves, so it can't be for that.

Have SEARCHED several Topics regards removing the symposer with no success towards identification. Started to SEARCH the service manual but have not been successful, either.

This all came about because I thought it would be good to change our supercharger oil. 20 minute job has become a nightmare after the tip of our syringe fell into the little fill hole!

it's the gearbox vent line coming up from the gearbox ending behind the symposer stuff.

Correct and it's fooled a number of us including me! I thought it needed to be connected to something before it was explained to be a transmission vent. I also have never found any mention of this in any Jaguar publication.

Here is mine (2014 XJR) and I asked the same question. The tube usually has 2 dabs of paint on it. I have seen yellow and blue so far.

Thx, my 'helper' said that the line was attached on the left side of the engine.

I'll look again when the effect of the Adult Beverages wears off!

 

Mine just disappears back under the transmission tunnel and I could not see anything more. I was interested to try and find it but even on the lift I can't find where it goes on the transmission yet. It was located pretty much dead center in the engine compartment.

Yep, I'll be looking for the ENGINE side if there is a connection of any kind.

Thank you Hendrik! I have been looking for the diagram as I had not been able to find any mention of the vent. Probably did not look hard enough!

So a bit more background as this was a new item to me. Previously on the 6 speed ZF they vented the case back into the bell housing area rather than out to the atmosphere behind the engine.



So we never saw the vent unless you pulled the transmission.

The 8 speed version ran the end of the vent up to the back of the engine and added a 90 degree hook to the tube.

Thanks again, it is all back together. Runs fine, some residual spillage smells a bit, but it buttoned up fine. On our early '14, the securing clip fits to the rear of the wire harness support, just above the symposer. <Yes, I didn't take the pictures with the retaining clip fully inserted in the bracket>
