Default Velocity AP issues

Hey everyone,

I know Velocity AP is the goto for tuning and most HP add ons. But I've tried multiple ways to get a price or any information on a tune from them with no luck. Jaguar forum messages, Facebook, messenger, email, ect. I'd really appreciate if anyone from Velocity ap could actually contact me back. Or if anyone has a contact email that would work too, I don't mind being the one reaching out.

I'm quite unimpressed with their customer relations. I have gotten one response, then explained what parts I had and what I was needing. Seems like they are less inclined to help knowing I bought from another member on this site and/or didn't purchase them new from them. If the tuner and data logger I purchased was universal, I would have already tried a different company.

Sorry for the blasting post, everyone on here rants and raves about how awesome they are. So far my opinion (not that it matters) is very opposite of that.

Hoping this makes a difference.

Have you not just tried calling them? I'm going to be going with them soon for my car and they have always answered the phone and are extremely helpful with all of the questions that i have asked them so far.

If the tuner hardware has been used by the original owner, I kind of think it's permanently tied to the VIN of the car, so you wouldn't be able to use it yourself. Not positive, though.

Not commenting on service etc., just facts on the equipment. The Tuner device (which was VTech PowerGate 3+ likely) binds to the VIN of the car and is encrypted. Even if you have the original and purchased direct, if the dealer flashes over it, you still have to buy a new unit and re-apply the tune as it is locked to the VIN at that point. So even if the dealer updates the file after a mod file was still inside the ecu, the Vtech device would no longer talk with the car. Reason being, the Vtech would think it’s a different vehicle….the file in the ecu would not longer match anything the Vtech read or flashed, therefore. If the file no longer matches the VTech, the device will prompt you with a msg of file calibration mismatch.

Similarly, when you buy the datalogger, you have to send the one time code generated after install and they create a key that unlocks it. Even if you just change computers, another key needs to be generated.

Not buying or selling, just sharing the facts.

Why don't you just call them? On the e-mails it may take a couple of days depending on how swamped they are. I've never had an issue over the 2+ years of dealing with them for multiple parts and tune updates.

Thanks for the contact information. I'm aware I'm going to need to purchase the tune. This is why I have been trying to contact them. I'm just trying to give them my money. I'm not going to spend extra money make an international phone call for a quote. I'm a field service technician for mobile hydraulic crane lift manufacturer. I receive 100+ emails a day and can respond to revenue jobs the same day no problem. I just think it's wild that you can email a company or speak to them on social media messaging, not get a response on email, and then after telling them I wasn't purchasing any parts on messenger, just a tune. They completely ignored me and have not responded since. Early last week.

I will send a group message with mt concerns to all of the contacts you sent me in an email. Much appreciated!

All the pricing is on their website… ?

My experience:

- selected what I wanted from the site, added to shopping cart (all pricing info given there)
- provided required info and submitted order
- device arrived a few days later (I live relatively close by)
- scanned ECU, sent file to VAP
- tune was sent back to me in less than 24 hours

Hello, and sorry if you're having difficult getting ahold of us. What is your email address you've been corresponding with us on, I will look it up and see if it's ended up in junk or something like that.

Hello,

I just purchased a bunch of used VAP goodies from another member on the Jaguar forum. I have a 15 F-type R. I currently have Minia Gallery full intake, I just purchased a lower pulley, 62mm S/C pulley, and 200 cell cats, tuner and data logger. I'm going to be in need of a tune for this in the next few weeks. Just wanted to introduce myself and get the conversation started.

Thank you!

It's incredibly unprofessional to disclose somebody's full name and e-mail and as I recall, against the forum rules. There is a reason that we have direct messaging

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately my situation isn't that simple. I bought a bunch of goodies from a few Spectacular forum members. I don't know what all I'm going to need, along with what I already have, or if it will even work. I reached out to them. They have since emailed me back randomly after me posting this with this response:

Hi Robert, Nice to meet you, is there some further information you need from us at this point or just reaching out to say hi? It was a terrible an unfortunate start to what I'm hoping can be a positive situation for both myself and VelocityAP.

Is this the customer service you all are so used to receiving? I've never had such a sarcastic response from a professional company via email. I am giving them another chance and have emailed them back with hopes they can respond like an adult. But I will tell you I'm having a hard time trusting them with something I value so highly like my Jaguar. I am patiently awaiting their response.

Thanks everyone for all of the information and help! I wish VelocityAP was ran by this forum!

Cheers!

Since my private information was already disclosed, I have no problem posting the same email. I just included the example of customer service I have seen as well in the thread.

Thanks for looking out.

Luckily for me, if it doesnt work out with velocity AP.... Henessey Motorsports is right down the road, they are more than capable.

I'll gift their tuner and data logger to a member on this forum for free and I'll pay all shipping costs.

Question

Henessey Motorsports? I didn't know they had tunes for Jaguars. Why can't I find this on their website?

Hi Rob. I've replied again with the info I believe that you need, from what you have replied with by email and here. There's zero sarcasm intended in that response (which is from me), was just unclear on what you needed from us at that point. Sometimes tone is lost or misconstrued with written communication and if it came across as sarcastic I apologize.

Rob (OP) asked me to close out this post by saying that his issue is resolved now to his satisfaction, so I'll add a couple of excerpts from the PM he sent me with his permission:-

"This Forum has been spectacular. It has been a huge help with owning and modifying my Jaguar. My issue with VelocityAP was resolved."

"Thanks to everyone who helped, and VelocityAP for professionally handling the issue after a hiccup in the beginning."
