Default Volume button up down steering wheel buttons not working

I have a 2014 v8s and the volume buttons are not responding. The menu/ok button is responding. The phone or the mode button are not working. Any ideas how to fix this? I cant use the menu and scroll through up and down to check oil etc. I see new buttons for sale do you guys think it would fix this?

Have lights but not responding.

I had to swap out that switch. Not because it failed. I scratched the paint off the switch with my laptop while tuning the DSP.
The airbag has to be removed. I had my Tech do it.
Wonder if SDD would show any errors? Or the newest Autel that can detect MPX module communication problems?
Could be broken wire or bad clock spring too.
Just thinking out loud.

I had a similar issue with my 14 ‘vert. Sourced the switch from Harper Jaguar, local dealer installed it, issue solved. It is a long job-airbag needs to come out.

You'll probably end up needing to replace the switch, but you could try a good spray of contact cleaner first. Maybe alternate cleaner / compressed air a couple of times.

I tried the contact cleaner and the compressed spray but it still didn't work.

Is there a good writeup on how to replace this button and what is involved?

Thank you

The airbag needs to come off. Local dealer charged 3 hrs labor. Not sure if there is a procedure listed in DIY thread. Workshop manual may help.

i did a full steering wheel breakdown and removal of the buttons to fix this issue. it could just be your buttons but this is the worst case.

Hi does anyone have a clear step by step on how to remove the airbag and trim to expose the button that needs to be changed? That video was confusing and the steering wheel doesnt need to be removed for this button. I heard to disconect the negative battery and use a tool to remove the trim around the airbag but want better step by step instructions.

Also I found the button I need here.

You need to speak to your dealer for a refund, it takes 10 minutes to remove the airbag and 10 minutes to remove the buttons I've done it myself

Between the **** spring video and someone mentioning its easy. Can somone shed some light on the steps needed to replace the volume button on steering wheel? Can you just take off that trim piece above the airbag to expose the button and replace it that way?

Do you see the part at which i pull out the button cluster???? its @8:40 ...well you do everything that i showed and explained before that part in the video to get your question answered. there's your 5 second answer!
Dude the only other thing i can tell you is to read the shop manual.
