What’s up with Spark Plugs
So my 2015 delivery V6S has now done about 31,000kms and was just in for its 4 year service. At about 2 yrs/15,000 kms they recommended the spark plugs changed, I didn’t object because it was still under the free servicing period, although it was inconvenient because they didn’t have them in stock so I had to bring it back for another day. Again today they recommended replacing them again at a cost of $900 and they still didn’t keep them in stock so I would need to bring it back.
So what is so special about the F-Type spark plugs that they need replacing every 2years and 15,000kms and so rare that a Sydney dealership can’t keep a basic service item in stock? I guess the $900 must be because they have to take the intercooler off to get to them.
I declined.

The recommended spark plug change interval for the F-Type S plugs is three years or 78,000 km whichever comes first. For all other F-Types double that, ie six years or 156,000 km. Service Schedule attached. So you have at least another year to go, and probably more like two more years.
And I recommend you do not take the car to a dealership for a routine service, instead find a decent Jag accredited independent, it will save you a packet.
Last but not least buy the new plugs yourself via Fleabay at a fraction of the price a dealership will charge, you want NGK SILZKAR7E8S, NGK product number 93476, JLR part number C2Z28434.
Edit - and there is no need to remove any supercharger parts to change the plugs, at most you disconnect the four (two each side) supercharger coolant pipes to make access a little easier.

I suspect the dealership changed the plugs at the free 24 month service with a view to conning you down the road at the 48 month service.
The plugs being Iridium will probably be perfectly OK after 100,000 km regardless of time, and as you are doing only 7-8,000 km per year the second set of plugs should last you for many years still.
And Misujerr, I asked the same question a while ago and never got an answer, I can only guess it is because the S is more highly tuned than the base or the R.

The other thing that made me concerned was that they tried to tell me I should get a wheel rotation, I told them that it wasn’t possible due to the different sized wheels and he tried to tell me I was wrong until I pointed it out to him in the tyre markings. They had at least two other F types in there for servicing I can only assume they are saying yes to this and being charged for it even though it isn’t being done.
