Default What is this?

Good morning! I'm new to the forum and new to the F-Type. Traded in my '04 Crossfire and got a '21 F-Type P300. It was heartfelt giving up the XF, I was the original owner from the beginning. As I was cleaning the F-Type with the hatch open, I noticed this switch. (see pic). Any clue what this is?

Interesting ... I can see the drains elsewhere but, this is clearly a toggle switch of a type, as I have pressed it. There's also a small LED in it.
Thank you for the reply, I'm going to keep searching and I have an appointment scheduled, I'll ask the tech.

Regards,
Anthony

On my 2017, they look a bit like yours... the cross-hatching and the open hole at the top, but definitely not the round component that you identified as a switch.. do you have a switch to lower the hatch? have photo of what the 2017 has.

If it's a switch to lower the hatch, won't it be permanently activated when the lid is closed? I wonder if a previous owner fitted it for some reason. Hope you find out what it's for and let us know - we're a curious lot!

scm, I agree on your comment about it being a toggle switch not a press switch. A thought came mind, perhaps it was added to disable the spoiler without disconnecting the fuse. The little LED would illuminate indicating power was on to whatever it's connected to (spoiler perhaps).

I will keep searching this as I try to learn all the little "features" we've been given.

Not sure how these mystery switches/drains line up with the closing surfaces on your car. I went out and partially closed the hatch to get a fix on what they would touch or come in contact with. On the 2017, there is nothing that would touch or depress. Certainly not like the adjacent hatch switches that depress when hatch is closed, operating, I believe the trunk lighting.
Do indeed fill us in on their use and purpose, always good to learn something.

Not stock. I'm guessing a spoiler disablement switch.

Normally the spoiler will raise at 70 MPH and lower at 50. Take a test drive and try the switch in each position and see if the spoiler operation changes.

Take it to a shop, and have them trace where the wires to that switch go.

Mystery solved!
Took the F-Type to the shop and the technician traced out the wiring and it was set up as a spoiler kill switch. Due to the location the previous owner chose to install this switch, it got wet and shorted out the spoiler system. The switch was removed and the spoiler system was fixed and it is now fully functional. Even though this switch was something the previous owner installed, all repairs were covered under warranty. Big relief on my part.

On the lighter side of things, I did like @Mahjik 's idea of it being connected to the ejector seat. Had this been an Aston Martin, it might have been.

Regards,
Anthony
