What is best F type Tire Pressure?
Hi everyone, what do you think is the best pressure to run on the F type? I noticed factory pressures are quite high and may add to loss of traction issues we have on acceleration
But you must remember most "mundane" car recommended tyre pressures are way too low, done on purpose to give a nice soft ride on a showroom test drive.
For example, 28 PSI is a common recommended pressure when at least 32 PSI is much better in most cases.
The F-Type recommended pressures on the 20" tyres are 36 PSI all round, while on the XF 20" tyres they are 34 PSI all round, despite the F-Type weighing around 200 kg less than the XF.
Based on my experience I suspect the F-Type recommended tyre pressures are designed to counter the excessive wear on the inside edges of the tyres due to the inbuilt high negative camber. Lower pressures = more wear on the edges and less in the middle, higher pressures = more wear in the middle and less on the edges.
My best guess is somewhere between 34 PSI and 36 PSI would be the best compromise for most 20" F-Type tyres. If you want improved traction on acceleration then maybe 32 PSI, but the risk is you will wear out the inside edges quick smart!
Jaguar (and TPMS) recommends 27 PSI all round on a 15 RWD R.
I seems to be able to manage the traction OK, even with tyre wear at about ⅔.

Typo, it's 37psi all round except at high speeds (over 155 mph) when it's above 40psi (can't remember exactly, will check manual)
My 2016 6S was delivered to me in Houston with 41 PSI. I drove it from Houston to New Orleans, first time driving an F.
I checked the pressure next day, discovered it was 41 all around. Reduced pressure to 37 PSI and man, what a difference!
I'm staying at 37 until I decide to drive 155 MPH and then of course, I'll increase!

Within 10% of the traction limit through a turn. If traffic lights are within your field of vision, it's a non-issue.
Figured it out, it's the Rain/Ice/Snow mode symbol, no wonder I didn't recognise it at first coz I have never used that mode and probably never will!
But why would you use that mode if you are attempting a VMax run????
It's not as though it is cold or snowing, the temp gauge reads 20C.
It's got me stumped!

Perhaps pushed dynamic the wrong way by mistake?
I liked 38psi in the MSPSS. Felt just a bit more glued to the road, but not much in the way of harshness. I drop out of dynamic if I hit a bad stretch of pavement.
Guessing the MPS4S will be the same, haven't checked yet to see what the shop put in them when I had them installed.
