Default Wheel Repair or Replacement?

In an attempt to avoid front spoiler scrape while leaving a parking structure yesterday, I cut the turn a little too sharp and the rear wheel caught the attendant's curb. I'm so pissed! In my 30 years of driving, I've never scraped a wheel until now. I'd like to get input on whether I should replace the wheel or attempt to have the wheel repaired. Looks like I can get a new wheel for around $300. I've not gotten a quote on the repair but I am assuming it is at least half the cost of wheel replacement or there would be no market for their services. Has anyone went the wheel repair route? If so, what was your experience? Here's a shot of the carnage:

Looks familiar, unfortunately. There are a number of threads here on wheel repair, including mobile repair services. I've never used them myself, I just avoid looking at my wheels.

Looks like its only just touched the alloy so should be an easy repair

Actually not that difficult a DIY project if you have the time, patience and a bit of skill.
BTW my dealer only charges $150 for such a repair.

I don't have the paint blending skills to get a perfect repair, but have done 90% good repairs a few times on my cars when the very edges of the wheels have been scuffed like that:
1) Mask off about 5mm from the damage, and along the tire wall.
2) Sand back any bits of alloy that are proud.
3) Thoroughly clean then apply a gel superglue + activator to the lost areas. It will set hard in seconds after applying the activator.
4) Sand back until the damage is undetectable with a torch across the surface.
5) Paint + clear coat.
For a small area like that you can do it with the wheel still on the car.

UK prices, but a mobile wheel repairer costs about £100 where I live, and could restore that easily. A full wheel strip/blast down and refurb costs from £200 per wheel at a local specialist.

Easy repair in Portland for under $150 and a lot less hassle than shopping for a wheel; would be done in an hour and you wouldn't be able to tell without a magnifying glass.

Looks like a pretty straight forward repair. I brought it to someone who didn’t remove the tire, spot sanded, and matched paint.

I've got a guy coming on Friday to repair the curb rash and some imperfections in the other three wheels for $160. Ideally, I'd like to powder coat the wheels in a satin bronze but that isn't in the budget at the moment. Thanks for all the replies and recommendations! Loving this community of car people!

I gotta say, I'm pretty impressed with the results. You can't even tell the damage was there.

Before:

After:

I also had him repair some minor blamishes on two of the other wheels and had him fix some corrosion on one of the front wheels. I think the previous owner didn't clean the wheels as often as he should have. This corrosion was between the spokes of the entire wheel.

Before:

After:

Repairs to all (4) wheels was $260. I'm very please with the work! Thanks to all that recommended I get the wheel repaired!

Thanks Rexus31.
Would you send a photo of the completed repair of the rashed wheel? You've now likely noticed that the rear stance is a bit wider than the front, so precise corners on curbs needs to be a bit wider. I made the booboo too.

$150 at the Portland dealer?

I just curbed one of mine tonight... if I can't find someone locally to do the repair, I'll plan to have the dealer do it next time I'm up there.
