Default Wipers turn on

Hi everybody....new to the forum and new to the thrill of owning an F-Type.

I have a 2016 S and every time I start it the wipers come on. Just one swipe then stop but I don't want this when the windshield is dry.
Tried the wiper switch in the off position and also in the auto position. Still when I start the car it swipes once.
Any ideas?

Is your car in a garage or outside?
Mine did that sometimes in Corpus Christi, where it sleeps outside, because of some dew left on the sensors.

Mine only does that when in the first position, rain sensors on, and when the windshield has moisture on it. I had some cases in the last wet weather where the wipers would go to high speed when it wasn't called for, but a good cleaning of the glass over the sensor fixed that. Or maybe the dry weather did. Maybe.

If the wiper switch is all the way off and it still does it, that's not right. You could try turning off rain sensors and see if it still does it (car configuration settings from left set of buttons on steering wheel).

Ya I will try turning rain sensors off and see how that works. Last week I did drive in sporadic light rain and sometimes the rain sensor work flawlessly and other times not at all and had to manually turn it on.
Could be a faulty rain sensor.

Before running it back to the dealer, try rebooting the car. (Disconnect the battery for 10-15 seconds).

Also, the rain sensor doesn’t work perfectly in all types of rain. But it works pretty well in general.

It sounds like maybe the car didn’t think the wipers were in the rest position, so it did a wipe to get them there. Which is odd, since it will complete the wipe and return to rest even if you shut off the ignition in the middle of a wipe. I’d guess something like the calibration of the position sensor, but that’s a huge guess based on no actual knowledge. But this is the Internet, after all...

This was happening to mine too. Found a setting in the settings menu - From memory it might be under Driver convenience and was called auto wipe or similar. Unchecked it and this stopped. It didn’t affect the rain sense wipers.
