XJR-9 Le Mans Winner 1988
There's something a bit weird with how the rectilinear rear of the car jars against with the sinuous front, but what an amazing ride!
The front looks like a Pininfarina masterpiece.
What's the story with the shielded rear wheels?

Thank you alexg for sharing that fabulous clip!
All I can add is I was there for that race and it was spectacular. Le Mans - which I've been to, oh, about 6 times (as a guest of the Director's daughter - read: full access) - is a 48-hour party of the highest order.

First time I went I'm sure I acted like I was 9 years old. Complete with Champagne. (Also the first time I realized what incredible skills it takes to be a professional race car driver - as well as witnessing an awful crash - lap after lap after lap, including at night. Amazing. You think you're a good/great driver? Think again).
Definitely one of the great races and tracks in the world. I can't recall (and not looking it up) but didn't Jaguar come in first and second place with a third close behind? No question three Jag's came across the finish line in beautiful formation as is a Le Mans tradition. It was fabulous being there as in 1988 I bought my first Jaguar, the re-designed XJ-6. That also might be the very last year before Le Mans totally modernized the pit area and all sorts of other things.
If anyone ever gets the chance to go to Le Mans, do it!
