2003-xk-service-training-guide queries
Hi,
I'm trying to resurrect a sick 2005 XKR which has been 'tampered' with. It won't crank, and has had a new KTM fitted somewhere along the line.
SDD can talk to the car, but shows a question mark for the KTM on the ISO bus. However, the module diagnosis process retrieves the KTM part # and the correct VIN.
The training guide immobiliser section states for no-crank "Transponder key may not be programmed, or the KTM has not been taken out of build mode etc"
Please can anyone tell me what 'build mode' is?
The same document also states in 'Key transponder module related concerns', 'transponder lean mode', "The attempted key learn has failed due to the BPM being armed"
I'm assuming that this is to prevent an unauthorised attempt to introduce a key to allow the vehicle to be taken. Would 'immobilisation setup' take care of this?
I don't want to start trying to program modules until I'm on firmer ground...

KTM is new/replaced and won’t allow engine start or key learning and the Lean mode / BPM armed prevents unauthorised key programming.
Possible solution is to perform KTM commissioning / immobiliser setup via SDD. Only then can you program keys and resolve the no-crank issue.
