Unhappy ClearSight Rear View Mirror (SRVM) Retrofit

Hi guys,

I'm retrofitting a ClearSight Rear View Mirror on my E-PACE 19MY. I purchased rear-view mirror from eBay, new roof camera from JLR and the video cable from PowerfulUK. When I turn on the ignition, rear-view mirror does not power on. I have already changed the CCF (MultiCan 711) to SVRM. According to the PowerfulUK video, the mirror should power on even if the camera is not connected. At first, I thought the mirror I bought was defective, so I purchased used another one from eBay. However, it behaves exactly the same way and still does not power on.

Anybody have any good ideas for me?

Regards

Hi there, just wondering if you managed to resolve the issue?

I am doing the same in UK with 2020 I Pace, all parts fitted, took to a local garage to activate and they are saying its not possible as the mirror is the wrong one but I dont believe this to be the case

Did you resolve your issue?

Hi, no, I haven’t resolved this issue yet. I’m planning to test it soon using SRVM from Discovery Sport. Have you installed mirror on your I-PACE? It should operate when power is supplied after installation and the reason for modifying CCF is for the dimming, "maybe".

Yes everything is fitted but after seeking advice from someone in the UK they said on their retrofit the mirror did nothing until the CCF was edited. Then after edit the mirror turned on and worked.

The only issue/concern I have is that he did the retrofit on a 22 with PIVI and mine is not PIVI, the garage say its the age of the mirror that is the issue but i don't believe it is, I just think they have not used the right tool or found the right file to edit. Looking locally to find someone that can help but at the moment I have not found someone. One person is taking a look Tuesday morning so i will keep you updated

BTW he said he had no joy the 1st time he amended CCF but when he researched you MUST NOT press the brake pedal when turning vehicle on to obtain, edit and re-write the CCF otherwise it will not work

Thanks for sharing

What I still don’t get is this: on older RVM(originally installed), the dimming worked as soon as mirror had power. But on the SRVM, even with power supplied, the dimming still doesn’t do anything. That’s why I first assumed the SRVM I bought was bad. From what I can see in the diagrams, ur I-PACE (C9PM05-6) and EVOQUE (C9PM05A-6) have LIN 1.3, but my E-PACE doesn’t. I have a feeling that could be the crucial difference here. There are quite a few I-PACE retrofit examples around, so hopefully the issue can be narrowed down without too much trouble.

thanks!

Hello folks,

This section is for general tech questions. You would fare much better by posting in the model specific sub-forum.

cheers and best wishes,

Sorry, yes, my issue is with E-PACE, but I posted here thinking someone with another model might have come across the same thing. @ipaceliamuk has shared some useful I-PACE info, which may actually help a lot, so it’s been worthwhile. I’ll post in the E-PACE section next time.

Thanks!

Great reply, Gloria,

My comment was not a slap, but an attempt to get you the widest audience for accurate info for your model. Try posting there as well and best wishes for resolving your questions.

Cheers,

Last Friday, I did some testing on new Evoque and found something pretty important. As I suspected, the BCM LIN is the key for SRVM operation. The CCF coding enables the BCM LIN, and that signal is then passed to the SRVM, which makes it work. Pin 6 on the RVM (Rear View Mirror) connector is connected to the BCM LIN.

Both I-PACE and New Evoque have this pin present and connected to the BCM. Unfortunately, on my E-PACE, this pin isn’t connected.

I enabled SRVM in CCF and also wired the pin to BCM. Unfortunately, it seems like E-PACE isn’t outputting any signal from BCM. SRVM doesn’t turn on at all. Pin is C2BP01C-8.

SRVM didn’t power on at all. I also checked whether the basic LIN voltage was present, but there was no change on the tester - no signal detected.

I’ve bought a LIN emulator, but I don’t know the exact specs like ID and DATA. Since I’m not in a position to reverse it(evoque left), I’m planning to try all possible values. Even if I manage to power it on, if dimming function doesn’t work, then it’s basically no different from aftermarket products... which would be pretty disappointing.
