Default failsafe engine mode

What does the failsafe engine mode mean? It comes on every so often but not every day.

You need to read the OBD2 codes.

Failsafe (also call limp home mode), triggers when you have a fault code. If you are handy with minor tools go ahead and get you an ODB code scanner, if you own a Jag you'll eventually need one, first trouble light is the cheapest time to bite the bullet and buy you a decent code reader... most good ones can also clear the codes for you with the press of a button. Write the codes down, you'll be asked for them by most of the forum techs and other posters... help starts by knowing what your faul codes are.. If you are pressed for time, some parts stores will read them for you, BTW, ignore the P1000.
