Default How difficult is the 5.0L timing chain guide replacement?

Trying to decide if it would be feasable or worth it to DIY the Timing Chain Guide Rods and tensioners myself. I have a 5.0L Supercharged, AJ133 in a 2011 Range Rover.

I understand the book says it is 15 hour job? I can't login to topix to check.

TIA.

You may receive better responses if you pose the question on the appropriate Range Rover forum.

Assuming you have all the necessary tools, it may take more time than what is listed for JLR warranty service as you become familiar with the procedure.

NB-- Thx. The engines are I believe identical. Range Rovers are a niche vehicle with sales around 20k per year and their forums are a lot less active. I have though asked.

I am ok with it taking more time I do my brakes and fluids etc, and I always find I take my time and make sure everything is good. I do have a garage with a good amount of tools and I'm not opposed to adding more! I do not have a lift.

The technical difficulty is what I am concerned with. Is the job in general a difficult 15 hours or an easy 15 hours? Any particular pain points in the job?

Why not register with TOPIx and purchase one hour or one day to download the appropriate documentation?

Checking with my 'non business user account' TOPIx login shows the rate is 16.20 GBP per hour / 25.20 GBP per day.

Would love to. I can't register my country as the USA, it forces me to register as UK, then you can't change it. I can't checkout as the address is wrong. I've tried.

I had to reach out to the helpdesk to change my country from default UK to USA.

I'm really on the fence about this job. Would like to do it myself so I know if it's done right or wrong but it is out of my comfort zone.

Perhaps once your review the procedure you can make a more educated decision.

What is the reason behind wanting to replacing the timing chains, tensioners and guides?

I have almost a lifter sound at idle which improves with rpm. Below is a video capture of the sound.
