Motor. Which one can I use??
Good evening gentlemen . New to this form looking for help. Purchased a 2000 XK8. That overheated because of a broken radiator hose lady didn't know it was she drove it till it stops. I bought it with extremely good deal. What would be easier for me to rebuild the motor or to buy a used motor and stick one in? Which motors would fit in this 2000 XK8 automatic! Thanks

The bore problem came from high Sulphur petrol. This was stopped in 1999 in the UK (so my 2 year 2000 Nikasil motors are ok), but I don't know about in the 'states.
I suspect swapping a different year engine will play havoc with the electronics - rip the existing engine down and if nothing's cracked, rebuild it but with the later metal tensioners.

I believe the 2002 V8 is as good as it gets - so yes is the answer. I have a V8 2002 XJ8 SE which has done 240,000 miles and the engine has never been touched (just oil, plugs, filters etc). Enjoy!
The chassis VID number (Vehicle ID Number or VIN) has little to do with the engine number as the engine can be replaced or an early engine used on the production line et cetera.
The only true way to know is the ENGINE NUMBER (or remove a cam cover).
