My FDS2000 is now a Jaguar PDU!
With the help of members here, I have been able to convert a Ford FDS2000 with a non working proprietary Sony CDROM, to a fully functioning Jaguar PDU with a more modern, and fully functional ATAPI CDROM!
I have a couple of questions for those that also have a PDU.
1. If I wanted to replace the battery pack, what do I buy? I know I need six cells, but I can't figure out the cell size.
2. Does the non-working Sony CD-ROM have any value to anyone? I want to chuck it, but want to make sure it isn't worth anything to anyone else. The CD-ROM powers up and spins, it just doesn't seem to be able to read CDs.
3. When replacing the old circuitboard for a new one, so that a modern ATAPI CDROM could be used, I found no use for that old circuitboard. Same question as #2, could it be valuable to anyone, or is it safe to throw it out?

There I have written that I build replacement circuit boards for the Jaguar PDU / Ford FDSFDS2. Haven't wrote a complete write up but if you are having troubles with your Sony CD drive I can help you.

Turns out it is the same machine! The FDS2000 is identical to the PDU in terms of how it works.
Once the CDROM was replaced (thanks Gijs) all thats needed is the software!
Nowmto figure out if Ill ever need this VIA device that connects to it, as well as some of the cables. Ill figure that out later though.

I have replaced the battery pack with six 2,800 mAH sub-C NiCD batteries. There is a small heat switch that has to be brought over from the battery pack, but it is just a case if soldering two wires at each end of the battery pack. The black wire goes from the negative post of Battery #1 while the red wire goes from the positive post of Battery #6, all meeting back at a three position female plug.
I tried to get the data from the heat switch, but it's very hard to read. I have deducted that it is a Microtherm T11v switch. I have found other kinds of Microtherm switches, mainly T11a, but I'm not sure of the differences. I am leaving the photos here in case anyone ever needs it in the future.
Microtherm Switch Rear
Microtherm Switch Front - T11V
Microtherm Switch Front again
