Performance Chip
Was looking into GF Performance Chip Kit, the one for $69.00 advertising fuel milage increase and HP boost. Looking at install instructions and reviews were very HOT/COLD, either was as advertised or was money thrown away. Anyone put one of these chips in XKR, I have 2001 XKR 4.0L just turned 21K. I know more sound ways for HP increases, just asking about chip and know short cuts usually (rarely) don't work for the best.
For my money and just my 2c worth
These just usually overfuel and personally I'm not a fan, waste of money imo and I would advise to stay away.
You may get different reactions to be fair and that's fine, your car your choice in the end

I can't speak specifically to this or any other chip but what I do know is that most of them work by trying to override the electronic ignition timing, fuel curves, etc. Most modern systems can't be beaten that way anymore and when they can the results are pretty poor. In an OKR I would imagine that they would attempt to enrich or lean out the fuel curve both of which have big downsides, especially when going lean. I don't thin k there's a way to electronically boost the SC's air pressure but I would think even if you could you'd be likely to run the risk of exceeding the engines design limits in other areas and end up with an expensive boat anchor.
Lots of threads here about these chips...the overwhelming consensus is at best a waste of money, at worst dangerous for your engine....
There is a reason why a proper tune from the likes of ETG, Eurocharged, Viezu, Rica, etc. costs >$800 or more, because those actually work. A $69 "chip" is a joke...
If you have a spare 30 minutes, watch this clip from a couple of local lads who bought a chip off ebay, then did dyno tests and eventually dissected the chip, only to find that the electronics inside it were only there to change the colour of the LED on the box! LOL
