Default SDD Pinpoint Tests

I'm trying to resolve a couple of issues on my car just now, one being a MAF related code. SDD (v131) is suggesting I run a pinpoint test related to that code.

What does this do - does it just guide the operator through checking specific pins on specific connectors for volts/resistance and give a diagnosis there, or can it test bits of the car itself to work it out? Is it safe enough to do, obviously with an approved interface cable and a battery support unit attached?

Pinpoint tests are only possible with a VMM.

Some of the pinpoint tests identified in the service manual can be done with a standard voltmeter but obviously depends on the tests. Other than that, what Cambo said...
