Just purchased an X Type SE Estate 2.0D,(08) and having problems with the alarm system. On getting out of the car and closing the door but not locking it, the alarm system sets itself after 30 seconds. So when I go back to the car to get some shopping out, the alarm sounds. Is this normal. I've driven other Xtypes and they were not like this, the alarm was set when the doors were locked by the remote. Can the system be reprogrammed? Is this a dealer visit only solution? Would appreciate any advice.

 

I'm not sure but I think that is a programmable option with the security system. You will need to have it hooked up to switch it off.

That's a dealer programmable option on the UK spec security system known as 'auto relocking':



It requires dealer level diagnostics equipment to program / disable.
