Default Which TCM's work in ZF 6hp26?

As the title implies, I recently had an unknown issue while flashing the TCM in my S-type R which lead to it being bricked. So, I'm on the hunt for a replacement and I just want to see if anyone knows which ones are compatible. I know from the part numbers that all seem to be the same for any S-type and I have found one (with the mechatronics) from a 05 S-type, so I know that one will work. However, I can get one for way less for say a Ford or BMW or one of the many other cars that use this same trans. While I am inclined to play is safe and go with the one I found, I figured doesn't hurt to ask if anyone knows for sure if any TCM from any car with a ZF 6hp26 would work, once programmed of course!

So, any thoughts?

Some of them have paddle shift (aka Tiptronic/Steptronic etc) so may be different - yes, maybe you'd want it if it worked!

I guess you found p50 of http://www.jagrepair.com/images/Auto...ning-guide.pdf

I found some Ford wiring etc pics I'll add.

Some BMW & other links / files

I expect you have the ZF parts catalogue & repair manuals?

I don't know what changed but there are at least 6HP26A (4WD version?) & 6HP26X (e.g. BMW X5).

Thanks for all the documents! I have seen most of them as far as I can remember. I've been going over so many diagrams my head hurts! So, I think I've decided to just go with the used one from the other S-type. I know from my research that someone had a messed up TCM in an XJR (x350 version) and he swapped in a used one from another XJ (not even an R I think) and all was good! So, based on that, and the fact all S-type part numbers are the same, I'll just get the used one and go from there since I know it will work. Ya, it'll cost me like $100-200 more, but really, for piece of mind, I think the cost it worth it!
