I have used Topix off and on for a number of years now. Logging in as an independent shop. It's costly so I have it but rarely use it. Tried to log on recently and no go. Finally reset my password and that did work. I got the reset link sent to my E-mail and I re-set the password. Web site even said it had been changed. But trying to log in I get this cryptic message?
So I fire a quick E-mail inquiry to the help desk and I get back this sterling reply!
I don't know whether to laugh or cry?!?
I guess I should happy it's NOT an urgent issue.

So globally since the cyber incident, there have been weird login issues. Late last year they basically turned off all old logins and switched access systems on the backend. The process right now to get your login info updated is manual and there is a multi-day backlog for retailer employees, they probably turned off independent access completely until they get caught up. I would say give it a week or two and try back.
What are you trying to look up? I can probably pull it for you in the meantime.
Thanks for the explanation and glad we have someone on the inside! Not any current need as I had been locked out for months now and have adjusted to not using Topix. It had been a long time since I had tried so thought maybe it was working but it looks like it's not back up and running smooth yet.
I kinda figure JLR will stop any "Independent" access in the future. But I hope not.

This is why right to repair movement and legislation is SO vitally important. This is absolutely what all of the big car manufacturers want to go to in order to control the entire ecosystem and make loads and loads of money since they can't make any money on their cars anymore. I'm generally not one for putting too much effort into things because ultimately things work out. However, they're going to work out might as well not waste my time on them. However, this one particular aspect of our lives right now is highly impactful to all of us. If we dedicate some of our time to know other calls but one it should be this as I think there is momentum right now, but the manufacturers are really hoping that it is a game of attrition. We can't let that happen.
