Default ZF6HP26 steel pan conversion.

I have been looking everywhere for info pertaining to the steel pan set up, for the ZF6HP26 like the one in my 05 sv8.
I was not able to find anything usefull, and decided it was time for a little investigtigation.
Here is what I found:

1. Transpan Ford part # br3z 7a194 a
2. Filter Ford part # bl3z 7a098 a or ft 188
3. Gasket Ford part # 6l2z 7a191 ba or Fram # tos 18753

I believe the bolts are called hb-1 also from Ford, they are 6x20 mm, I had some nice bolts for the purpose and have not seen the Ford bolts.

The pan is a few bucks over $30 and both filter and gasket is just below $30 each
Hope this is helpfull to someone.

Anyone installed this pan? Looks like a no brainer alternative to the plastic one...

Why no brainer? Costs more.

I am not sure I follow you Jagv8, how much do you pay for the plastic pan???
Also, I you ever get to a second filter change you have to buy the complete filter/pan w. the plastic, w. the steel one you just need the filter.
The steel pan does take a bit more fluid ($$$) Some people (me) like the bigger fluid capacity and the added cooling the steel gives.

There's a cheap kit of parts both in US and here. Neither has the metal part but you can get it and costs quite a bit more. No extra cooling is wanted or needed as there is already a cooler and the internal computer makes sure the temp is OK. ZF are not beginners at this stuff so why try to out-think them...

the steel pan has a paper gasket, the plastic pan has a rubber gasket.

the steel pan gaskets might be prone to leaks.

I Installed a steel pan on my Range rover sport V8 just because reinstalling a plastic pan is impossible due to access but at first the new steel pan was leaking which was sorted after tightening certain bolts though.

there is plenty to find about steel pans for the 6hp26 on the internet

Not trying to out think ZF, all these parts are designed by them, these are ZF designed parts not the later Ford type.
I just got tired of replacing cracked/leaking plastic pans, and yes I do like the bigger fluid capacity.
Also, here in the us the plastic pan cost appx. $200 and the total for steel pan/gasket/filter is appx. $100
