Default Recall For Regenerative Braking

Heads up, I just got a notice that there is a recall for our Regenerative Braking system. It is an NHTSA recall indicating a potential failure of the system which could result in a crash. Good news is that there are no parts required they just need to reflash the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) and that should take under 30 minutes. Bad news is my dealer is around 180 miles away from me and it takes around 2 hours on a direct charger to recharge the car. Summer Road Trip!

This is "Non-ComplianceRecall H213". I'd whine that this should be done over the air given this is a connected car but given this has to do with the safety equipment in the car, it likely would need to be done in person regardless because any failure in the patch process would be dangerous.

You should be getting a notice in the mail, but if you don't, you should still follow up with your dealer. You don't mess with brake problems...

Had the recall done earlier this week. Painless except they didn't put the car on the direct charger until they'd had it for over 2 hours and then I had to wait 2.5 hours for it to charge. It did muck with some of my settings (my binnacle settings were reset). Otherwise pretty painless. Regenerative braking seems stronger now when cranked all the way up. There were some other updates done at the same time but not noticing any other differences.

I had the H193 (gateway module reprogram) and H213 (brake regen recall) updates done last Friday. Service manager said it would take 1.5 hours and sure enough, they were done in that time, including doing the courtesy checks and air in the tires.

After the reprogram, my range showed an increase like the others I have seen posted who had these done. After three days of normal driving and charging overnight, it is still showing increased range, first day it was 255miles range, last two days was 245. It is showing that the consumption is similar for the same routes driving previously, so I think it may be the guess o meter is updated to reflect different profiles for the range.

Now that you mention it I'm showing 255 base range now as well. Cool!
