Default Leather seat reconditioning?

Hi - not sure if this post should be here or in the interior section.

On my XKR - there's a pinhole tear - no more than 2-3 mm on the side of the driver's seat, don't have a picture of it now but can post it later. Not sure what caused that either - and why I just spot that now .....

Anyway - stupid question - is there a way to fix a tear like that? I suppose I can put a 1x1 cm black duct tape on it - but hoping for a more elegant solution .....

Wink Leather Seat

I took mine to a local shop and they redid the seat with new leather for less then $250.00.They did a great job matching the leather and color.Call a few local shops that do autos, boats.cycles etc.The driver seat gets most of the wear and this will make it feel like new on the buttmeter.

There are repair companies that can actually fill the tear when it is small with a filler. I had it done on another car ($75.00, they came to me) and you couldn't tell. I don't know how long it lasted, I had the car for about a year afterwords and it still looked good.

Damn. Sometimes half-assed, band-aid solutions are expensive.

Default Driver Seat

In my 2002 XK8 the driver seat has some wear areas on it where the leather is damaged. I think its more than just a spot repair. I hadn't thought about having the seat re-leathered, so thanks for that. I'll be making some calls tomorrow to get estimates.

Default Seat tear is repaired ... finally

Finally got the seat tear repaired. There's a company here in Austin area that advertises on Craigslist, decided to give them a shot.

They came to my house, cost $50 for the repair, took about 1 hour, don't know if that's the going rate or not, but happy with the result.

In case anybody in Austin area is interested:
Auto Plastic Surgeon - Mobile Automotive Scratch Hospital

Not affiliated with the company - they did a decent job and I thought I share with the board.

Next is the BBS trim ring replacement on the rear - passenger side and the outie at top of the trunk.
