Default cold air intake?

I am looking to inatall a cold air intake on my 99 xjr. First i am wondering how hard it is to install and secondly i am wondering if there are any suggestions for which brand i should go with. I found a k&n for 127 but it is universal fit i am wondering if any one knows of one made specifically for my xjr. Thanks in advance.

The Agency Power Short Ram Intake is a good choice. You can't really go wrong with K&N though.

The factory system is already a cold air intake. The snorkel runs into the area in front of the wheel well.

Unless an aftermarket system has its intake outside of the engine bay it is actually a "hot" air intake.

It is a fundamental qualification for a cold air intake to source the air from outside of the engine bay.

Yup, a K&N drop in panel filter will probaly be your best bet for real gains. Most (Cold Air Intakes) are hot air intakes that bring in hot, less dense air from the engine bay. = less fuel due to less air, hotter IAT's = retarded timing, = less power, less mpg. But looks kewl.

K&N filter will not gain you 1 hp VS. a clean paper filter. Check any independent test you want, plus you open your engine up to sand and dirt getting into the engine. Do you really think that mesh with oil sprayed on it, will stop the stuff that KILLS engines????

Look into how many people have tried to sue K&N because the MAF or engine was ruined by either the oil or dirt getting in.

The only REAL gains you will get, will be opening up the exhaust, heads and intake. I raced cars for years, if you could add 10 hp with just a filter change, don't you think the manufactures would have done that??

I had the mina gallery intake installed in my 2004 XJ8, but after reading about it being a hot air intake I went back to the stock intake with a K&N. However, I had more power with the mina intake but im worried that it was responsible for the engine light turning on. It would come on occasionally saying "restricted performance" and the codes said "system too lean bank 2." I got the ECU reprogrammed because it needed more fuel, but the problem continued. I cleaned the MAF sensor, changed all the O2 sensors, put the stock intake with K&N and I still have the same problem. Is it safe to say that it's ok to leave the mina intake in the car instead of the stock or should I leave the stock because it gets cold air instead of hot air from the engine compartment?
